This cake was copied out of a Wilton Yearbook. They no longer sell the original candles but I found some similar ones at a party store. The accents are made from half gumpaste half mmf. The hat and bear are hand molded mmf/gumpaste. Royal icing drop flowers add a border. I had issues with the chairs and table standing up straight. I also think I would have done a quilted table cloth if I could.

Third red velvet cake I have done for this group of "Red Hatters." This was the first hat box and also the first time working with MMF for the bow and flowers. The idea came from this site...thanks everyone.

I made this bonnet cake for the teachers at my daughter's preschool. I presented the cake with a sign that said, "Hats Off to Terrific Teachers!" The cake is made from a large round pan and a contour pan. The bow is made out of fondant, and the flowers are made from royal icing and fondant.

The aunt said the little girl loved flamingos and pink and purple. This is what I came up with. At first I thought the colors were to bright but after I got the cake done I think it turned out cute. The cake is a fourth of a sheet, iced in buttercream with fondant accents. I hope the flamingos stay standing on the way to the party!!

I made this cake for my daughter's first birthday - it was a White Almond Sour Cream cake with Chocolate Cheese filling and Crusting Cream Cheese icing. It was delicious - I had a mishap the first time I made the cake. I was almost done and I went to turn it and it fell off the table! I was so upset and horrified...I had to start over and the finished product turned out well! I am proud - and check out the smash cake I mad eot match the theme!

Here is my daughter's smash cake - I wish I could post a picture of her eating it! It was so cute. It was also White Almond Sour Cream cake (6 inch) with crusting cream cheese filling and Chocolate Cheese icing. I made the drawing on the cake freehand (my first time) and I was pleased. The eyelashes turned out a bit too big due to the icing being soft (as I have a broken AC in the house!) . Other than that, so fun to make!

This was a fun one to make. It's a basic white cake with lemon filling and bc frosting. All the decorations were made of gum paste. I had a hard time getting the gum paste black and red so I ended up painting the stars and steamers with food coloring then dusting them with silver and gold for sparkles.

I made this cake for my dh and his co-workers at Home Depot. Company slogan is, "You can do it, we can help" but they say, "You can do it, we'll watch!" Everything is MMF with the exception of the pin in the bottom right corner (a real HD pin), the "sawdust" (crushed vanilla oreos) and the "wood shavings" (chocolate shavings). The gift card is accurately marked and is the same design as the one they sold for Father's Day. The tools are MMF dusted with lustre dust.

This cake started out as a disaster, but turrned out OK considering the trouble I had. If I did it again, I would have done two 9x13 layers instead of one. The hat is a 1/2 sportsball with a cardboard, covered with fondant top and a fondant tassle. I used the Wilton fondant letter cutters as a pattern for the writing. Buttercream on a devils food cake.

I made this cake from scratch for my neice's 3rd birthday party. The base of the hat is a large sugar cookie that I rolled out from prepackaged and made store bought dough. I baked the cake in a glass bowl for the center of hat. To frost I heated canned frosting until pourable consistancy and gave it 3 coats. I made the sugar decals by piping homemade tinted icing onto wax paper and using the same icing for glue to adhear to the hat. I just used

Yay Class of 2006! I made this for a friend and me in May for our graduation from James Madison University! The hat is a cupcake and a cardboard square covered in black cloth. The tassel is made out of buttercream (I LOVE butter cream!). It was french vanilla made with apple sauce instead of oil. I think it makes the cakes so much more moist.

Rolled and colored fondant for the brim. Baked 2 round 9' cakes. I needed more, but got the invitation like 2 hours before the party.Anyhow, I iced the cakes in buttercream, colored them red, white and blue. Then I used fondant for the stars on top.I should have used diffrent paper on my board, the hats brim, blends into it too much. Oh well, I'll no better next time.

My husband's b-day cake, a Yankee fan--he had fun photoshopping it. It was the first 3 D cake for me-I always "experiment" with the family cakes:). Our 9 y/o daughter did the stitches for the baseball. All fondant.

This is the 2nd cake I did for the 4th. This was my nightmare cake...from baking to filling to decorating. I was happy to just get it done and over with. The only plus was that I used the Wilton spray on color for the first time and loved the ease of coloring fondant....now I can't wait to get an airbrush.

I made this cake to celebrate the completion of DD's capstone class as she earns her BS in Hotel/Restaurant Management. The students ran a full-service restaurant all by themselves, twice/week for six weeks. I crafted the tools of their trade out of fondant. Clogs, chef coat, hat and pants, apron, saute pan, knife, check for a meal for 6, and a thank you to the professor on the blackboard. Chocolate cake with buttercream, covered with chocolate MMF.
