I made this cake after being inspired by other "crest" cakes on the internet. It was for a friend's (who is a Harry Potter enthusiast!) 6th birthday party. The fondant characters were fun to make, and then I painted them with edible silver dust. Hope you like it!

This was for a friend's daughter who loves Harry Potter and purple. The cake was an egg-free chocolate cake with white chocolate bc. I had a lot of inspiration from this site. Ideas were from surewinwilliams and Seana1977.

For a friend's mom who loves HP...I wanted to make something that wasn't too childish, and I also love owls and wanted to try my hand at rice krispie treat sculpting, so this is what I came up with. The owl, Hedwig is RKT covered in fondant, cake iced in BC. Snitch, wand, and glasses all fondant. Thanks for looking :)

This is the second attempt I made on this cake. The first weekend it was actually due, we had a heatwave and my 10" cake (even though well supported) would not take the weight of the 8" cake and started leaning backwards. I dismantled and and baked totally new cakes. In the meantime, my friend called and told me her b-day boy was sick and could I freeze the cake until Halloween? Luckily, I had not started the fondant covering, etc. so I could postpone. When I went to finish it this weekend, I still had issues, but was able to pull it together and the b-day boy loved his cake.

I'm super new to cake decorating. I'm getting better at buttercream and wanted to try something fun with fondant. This is actually rolled buttercream Harry Potter. I used dutch-cakebox and one other fabulous CC'ers cakes as an example. It was neat to try something new!

this is my very first stack of books cake. It was for my cousins graduation. I did realize that this is deffinatly NOT cake to do in a rush time. This was a little more difficult than i thought. The easy part was having to make the books look older and used!! Hopefully i will get more of these cakes so i can practice! Each layer was a different flavor. Chocolate, yellow, and redvelvet. These were her favorite books going through school. If you have any easy tips for doing these cakes let me know! thanks for looking!!

My best friend and I are huge Harry Potter fans, so I made her this for her birthday. The idea is that it is a book on top of Professor Dumbledore's desk. On one side of the book is her favorite quote from the series and on the other is the Gryffndor crest. I regret not going back and redoing the writing. It was really sloppy. She loved it nonetheless! The cake is strawberry daiquiri with buttercream icing covered in modeling chocolate. I am still a beginner, so comments and advice are always welcome! Thanks for looking!

I made this cake for a Harry Potter fan; it was a surprise from her husband and she loved it! It was a little tricky but I really like the way it turned out. I filled and stacked a 10in. 9in. 8in. and 2-6in. cakes and a large cupcake put them in the fridge for a couple hrs, then I carved out the shape, iced the whole thing and used an ice cream cone for the very top. I covered it all in mmf and hand painted the details w/gel food color. Chocolate fudge cake with choc filling and icing, mmf decoration.

I made this cake several years ago for my son's birthday. He loves to play video games, and HP Prisoner of Azkaban had just come out. This is a Game Boy Advance. The buttons are cookies. The crusting BC cracked in transport, but the kiddos didn't mind! LOL!

Harry Potter, his broom, and the dragon are all made of clay so my little guy could keep them after his birthday. I saw the dragon design on here and fell in love! The castle is RKT with MMF, and the landscape is BC sprinkle cake as requested by my son. TFL :-)

This is a cake I made for my son's elementary school PTA auction. The "cake" part is actually a large rice krispie treat. It ended up selling at the silent auction for $35! But the joy on the winning kid's faces was priceless! Everything is covered in rolled fondant. The teeth/mouth are rolled fondant as well. The book cover is made of foam-core board and is frosted on the underside with a think layer of royal icing while the top is covered in rolled fondant. The really long teeth are hiding the wood skewers that hold the "mouth" open. The glasses are made from tuile cookie painted black. The wand is also fondant. Oh, and the Wonka bar is just a Hershey bar with a Wonka label I printed off the Internet. To those who have seen this already, I've just updated the photos with better quality ones.
