These are dummy cakes that I did for a Sweet 16 party showcase that I will be participating in next week. These are all firsts for me - first time doing sandles, shoe box, tiffany box and 3-d purse.

For a 7 yr old's bday. Her mom wanted it to resemble a Lillie Pulitzer purse. I got the colors and pattern close enough. I had to come up with shoes to match. It's a good thing I do cakes and not shoes!!! The cake is a 1/4 sheet, cut in thirds and then stacked. It's covered with MMF and a pink boa. The shoes are gumpaste/fondant using socake's template.

This was part of a collage of cakes I was making for a surprise 40th. The birthday girl learned of the party the day before, freaked out, cancelled the party and here I am with the cakes!! My own fault for not getting a signed contract. I donated to a local nicer restaurant so maybe it will serve as good PR! Sculpted pound cake, all fondant accents. Patent leather look was done with piping gel.

This is my first purse cake. I made it for a bake sale benefiting the Susan G. Komen foundation. I like how the purse itself turned out....don't like the letters or ribbons. Next time I'm definitely going to paint instead of piping! My handle also started to crack (50/50) I guess I need to let it dry longer?

Covered in fondant with gumpaste/fondant accents. Hand drawn symbols with food coloring pens. I did not correctly estimate how long that would take me! Jeez!! The handle gave me a tough time after the 3rd one broke. I am really starting to enjoy these purse cakes! TFL!

This was my first time making any of these things, pleased with the end result.
Shoes are gumpaste, shoe boxes are chocolate with cake inside them and the handbag is chocolate cake and chocolate paste.
