This cake has hundreds of tiny flowers. Each one was individually cut, each petal was thinned with a small ball tool. Probably took me 40 hours to do this cake. There is a birds nest on top with 4 little eggs in it.

This was my first attempt at a baby shower cake. It is strawberry cake with buttercream dream icing. First time working with gumpaste for the flowers and diapers. Lot's of mistakes...but definately had fun!

One year ago I got married, and ordered a cake from a Wilton wedding cake book. I ordered it 2 months in advance, and was assured that they could do the gumpaste orchids, etc, just like the picture. Well, on my wedding day, they show up with a cake covered with fake silk roses, they never even called to let me know they couldn't do it! So for my anniversary, I decided to make a small version of the cake, and this is it! Not too bad for being such a newbie, don't know why a professional couldn't do it!

This was my first wedding cake, done for a wedding last Sunday. The gumpaste flower was inspired from a piece of fabric provided by the bride. It was really fun to do!

Done using gumpaste, and Bronwen Webber's instruction in the last issue of "American Cake Decorating". Very time consuming to make!

This flower turned out to be about 8 inches in diameter, fairly close to the size of a small magnolia.

These cupcakes have a thin layer of buttercream icing which I then covered with Tiffany blue fondant cut with a scalloped cutter. The flowers are made of gumpaste then brushed with pearl luster dust.

This was for a friends mom's co-worker who is moving to CA from MA. The flowers are the state flowers of CA and MA, and are made from gumpaste (my first experience with it). The states were outlined with buttercream. The writing looked horrible when I finished it, but looked a lot better the next morning. The colors used on the cake (writing and decorating) are the state colors of Mass and California.

My first attempt at covering a cake in fondant, it was RBC so it wasn't the easiest! Also my first attempt at gumpaste flowers. I can see all of the flaws but they were very happy with the order :)

I wanted to practice to make sure I could do a tiered cake. I know I didn't get the height of the pilars exactly correct but that's what practice is for. It's a 10" chocolate sourcream cake with rasberry filling on the bottom. The top two layers are vanilla butternut cake, the middle layer just has buttercream for filling and the top is filled with apricot preserves. The entire cake is buttercream except for the flowers which are gumpaste. I didn't make enough flowers so I had to skimp on the placement.

My first attempt at gumpaste carnations. I've been really intimidated by all that frilling. It really wasn't bad!! They're pretty fast to make compared to a lot of other flowers

Nephews birthday cake, he even drove McQueen on the road! 8 in. yellow cake, chocolate frosting, fondant/gumpaste accents. McQueen is a toy. I have not seen the movie so I believe my imagination was a little limited but Nathan loved it, so I do too.

This was the first cake that was really frustrating to me. I tried a FBCT but it made a big mess so then I tried to do the red dress by painting it-another mess! I finally piped the red dress. I made this as a thank you for the volunteers that helped me with our Go Red For Women Luncheon (I work for the American Heart Association). It's chocolate cake, buttercream frosting, MMF, gumpaste flowers and real chocolates. These are my first gumpaste flowers, I've been teaching myself how to make them.

I made a body for the fairy head posted earlier. Used various cutters for her dress and hat..I am going to put wings on my final fairy and also she will be holding a flower..any constructive criticism is completely welcome!! I want to make the fairy look wonderful! thanks again to Katharry, Aine2 and Liis.
I made her kneel so she won't have to hang off the side of the cake...lol

I bought the gumpaste book and cutter set the other night and taught myself some flowers. :) They aren't the best, but I picked the easy ones so they'd turn out okay. :) I made forget-me-nots, daisies, blue bells and apple blossoms.

This is a birthday cake for my mother-in-law. The flowers are gumpaste and represent each of the states she has lived in. Magnolia (MS), pink and white lady slipper (MN), black eyed susan (MD), California poppies (CA), and although technically not the official flower, cherry blossoms for (Washington DC).

This is the rose we made in class whilst I was at Bonnie Gordon's School in TO....wonderful school. You will also see a little sweet pea that I wired up with the rose and leaves..I loved doing this and am pretty proud of my flower.

I did it, I did it!!! Yeah!!! (Yes I'm doing a happy dance!!) I've wanted to try these for so long... they're one of my favorite flowers. Wish I could grow them here in St. Louis! I know they're not perfect but I actually made them pretty close and colored them pretty good too if I do say so myself. I can't decide if they should be thicker or thinner petals. One book shows 1/16 and the other is like tissue paper (see through) thin. I'll keep trying but for now I'm happy! Enjoy!
