This is for my friend's birthday. His party was at a BBQ competition 3 hours away. They transported the "smoker" and sheet cake seperate. The dowels were already in place, so all they had to do was place the smoker on top when they got there. The cakes had to travel in their camper for 3 hours up and down windy back roads!! It looks like the only prob was a little leaning. This isn't a great pic, but that's what I get for not being there to assemble (and hide dowels! ugh!) and take the pic myself.

I got this idea from melsherard. I took it to a Labor Day party. The cake was Pralines & Cream Cake it was really good. The color of the hamburgers are a little off but other than that it was very easy. Everything is buttercream.

I made this cake for my family on Labor Day of this year (sorry....just posting). My Father got a kick out of it since he was grilling that day. (He thought the flames were shrimp, though!) Yellow cake, buttercream icing, fondant food, real foil. I got the idea from several CCers on this site----Thank you!

I saw this cake on the cover of a magazine a year or two ago. The vegetables are cookies and/or fondant. Everything but the skewer on the marshmallows is edible. Comments as always are welcome.

Chocolate Cake frosted in chocolate icing. The hamburger and hot dogs are made from fondant. The pile next to it is supposed to be an ant mound sprinkled in ant poison. It's really crumbled chocolate cake sprinkled with powdered sugar. I made this for my niece's 11th birthday and boys there had a blast eating the "poison."

I saw several copies of these from the Wilton Cake Book but I wanted to try fo do them in cupcakes. They were the most time consuming cupcake I ever did but I love how they turned out. The coal is fondent rolled in luster dust and flattened. The hot dogs are fondent, the girl marks made by dipping a toothpick in the color, and the cheeseburgers are fondent and jr. mints. The rest is buttercream

This one's not as cool as some of the other awesome grill cakes on this site, but I had to keep it simple :-) (and then there's the whole not as talented thing. LOL) Anyhoo, fondant grill (that broke :-p), burger patty and hotdogs, fondant "toppings", BC icing. 8" chocolate cake with peanut butter BC filling. YUM!

Coals are jumbo marshmallows painted black and sprinkled with powdered sugar. The inspiration for this came from all the other pics on this site. Thanks for looking!

White cake, filled with almond/vanilla buttercream and covered in
Fondx. Hamburgers are rice krispy treats and hot dogs are fondant.
Charcoal briquets are marshmallows sprayed black and sprinkled with
powder sugar. The grill "wires" are dried spaghetti sprayed black. The
wheels are rice krispy treats covered with fondant. My husband built
the stand. I was told they ate everything that wasn't wood or foil.

Chocolate fudge cake with chocolate BC icing and fondant accents. My 7 year old niece made the hot dogs and grapes. I noticed small fingerprints all over the hotdogs, apparently the kids just couldn't resist picking them up when I wasn't looking. Really fun cake to make, but I have never made fondant flowers and ran out of time (as usual) so settled for cutout ones. Please tell me what you think as I am just learning. Thanks!
