gosh not enough space to go into what went wrong-suffice to say, winging it never works. This I found out doing the roof and chimney without a plan. (The original roof/chimney). I redid these, This was a door prize for our school Christmas banquet. Snow white Icing from CC, evergreens are homemade tuiles with green BC. Front yard trees are actual branches dipped in chocolate. Windows are isomalt.

Santa and the trees are made of chocolate cake with raspberry and chambord ganache. The ornaments and outside of Santa is marshmallow fondant. The rest is soft, yet firm enough to hold up, gingerbread house with kit-kat gutters and window sills, chocolate caramel front porch, chocolate candy roof, M&M walk-way and chimney.

Well I love this one. I have entered her in a Wilon / Kamart Contest this Dec. 2007. She is a winner for week 5 for the Wilton choice pick. www.cookiedecoratingcontest.com - I am VERY happy. She is gingerbread and the dress and candy were fondant and gum paste mix. Wondering how to preserve this cookie so I can keep it for decoration?

This is what happens when you have a boy! So, i really wanted to try my hand at gingerbread since I had never made it or played with it. Well, the only way I could get him to play along was if I did something he liked, so wrestling ring it was! All gingerbread, used a 8 1/2 by 81/2 square for a template and the remaing piece to make the sides. Decorated in Royal icing. next time we will use more candy for decoration. The rope rings are string.

The cake is a lie...but the cookie is not :) For my birthday one of my friend got me The Orange Box. (a really popular video game) One of the games is called "Portal", and it's a fun puzzle game. The cube is your beloved companion, so I paid tribute to mine in the form of gingerbread since i didn't have cake :)

Cookies that went into cookie bouquets for my dd's teacher & the church office. NFSC, RBC & Royal. Not sure you can see, but Mrs. Claus does have glasses. Garland, glasses & details on ornament dusted w/ Luster Dust. And I did add a personalized RI tag for the gift from my dd to her teacher. As always, I had fun!!!

One of two rather melty looking "gingerbread" house cakes. they were both half ginger cake, half chocolate, although pretty everyone ate the chocolate. My own father thought my trees were chickens though! Oh well, that's those store-bought gel decorating icings for you.

Here is the slightly less colorful twin of the other "gingerbread" house cake. They were both four layers tall and mighty heavy.

This was a gingerbread house I learned to make about 35 years ago. The trees are decorated sugar cones, a piping gel pond and rock candy on the roof, chocolate covered pretzels for the fence and chocolate covered raisins for the path stones. All the icicles are royal icing. I got inspired to start making them again this year for Christmas gifts and next year I'll get started a little earlier and make some other houses. I have directions and a pattern on my website if you are interested.

Critique Group Member: Here is my feeble attempt at trying a Kraach creation. I just love her creations so much I wanted something similiar for my coffee table. It is gingerbread and RI made from hand-drawn templates (and a heart/star cookie cutter); the GB was glazed with a light sugar sauce to try to acheive a shine. All critiques are welcome (still trying to get the cornelli work better so tips would be most helpful - I used a #1 tube but think it should have been finer (?)).

I got the idea from Martha Stewart...the one and only :) My son turned three Christmas day , so we always do a Christmas themed cake.
(He has a special cake at his party:) It is an Italian Creme Cake decorated with light and dark gingerbread townhouse cookies. I used royal icing to decorate the townhouses.

I'm calling this one "The Disaster of 2007" My first cake that fell apart. As you can see, I finished it nicely and it was in perfect condition when picked up. Customer put it on the floor of the car, drove home and by the time she got there it had flipped over - too top heavy I guess. Thankfully shes a friend and was kind enough not to call me (which was Christmas Eve) and the family made light of it and still ate it. I'm doing a free cake for Valentines Day because I feel so bad.
