I made this cake for my friend's birthday and she LOVES butterflies!
I used a Sugar Free yellow cake with Sugar Free Vanilla icing and then I added the Wilton Icing Butterfly Decorations and put it on a cute Butterfly plate that I found.

This cake was for my daughter's 8th Bday. It is all chocolate cake using the 123 Gluten Free mix, which works great for layer cakes. For the doll, I used the insert from a Betty Crocker ball set, which is 6in - so I stacked it in 6 in rounds for height. The bottom layer is 8in rounds. It was very top heavy, so needed a lot of dowels to keep it together. The dancer still leaned a bit to the left, but it held together fine and made it to the party! Buttercream with fondant accents.

I was happy to have a reason to make a cake. =) I've been itching to do one for a while. =) The stencil of the mother and baby was suppose to be white on the outside to help tie in the flower, but I accidentally got ganache on the outer part and so just decided to "paint" it silver. Tiers are 10' and 8". White and Chocolate cake, dairy-free ganache, dairy-free Michele Foster's Fondant. And it's hard to tell, but the thicker ribbon around the top tier is actually dark brown. This was also my first time trying to make a realistic flower.
TFL!

This cake was so much fun to make. The bride and groom enjoy doing everything in the backcountry together. This suited them perfectly and when the bride saw it, she said "It's perfect! Just what I asked for!" It is filled with chocolate cake, vanilla buttercream and believe it or not is gluten free. The bride has many allergies and this cake fit them all for her. No corn, soy, nuts, wheat, oats!

I used the "stress free" cake support system with this cake leaving about 1 1/2" between tiers for the flowers. I thought the support was a little wobbly. Very disappointed after spending $200 on it! Has anyone else had this problem? I think the support system would be great if the tiers were all stacked right on top of each other, but not when elevated like I did. I was soooo afraid the cake was gonna topple!

A local dentist has me do all of the cakes for his assistants birthdays and anniversaries. I try and do something a little different with each cake I take to them. This time around I decided to work on my scrolls. Black scrolls around the side as well as in place of the top border.

Offset 3-tier wedding cake with sides painted to design created by one of the grooms. Silk posies were wired with red ribbons and had a crystal wired into each small rose. Each tier was a different cake - one rich fruit cake, one gluten free rich fruit cake and one banana cake. Upturned Kilner jars were used as stands for the cakes. Lights were placed inside along with aqua gel beads and rose petals. It took me 3 days just to paint the design onto the twelve sides of the 3 cakes but the end result was worth the effort. Both of the fruit cakes were allowed to mature for about 2 months and the banana cake was made, iced and painted at the last possible moment.

My first basketweave cake. Gumpaste/fondant pansies. I had a bit of a mishap on the way home with a car cutting me off and had to slam on the breaks so some of the flowers came off and the basketweave got a bit smushed. I put them back on to hide the damage so it's not quite as well arranged as I preferred.

This was for my sister-in-law's wedding reception. It's playful and fit their personalities. It's a gluten free yellow cake with whipped chocolate ganache filling covered in chocopan. I sculpted their pets out of chocopan as well - she's a veterinarian and they both love golf.

Gluten free - chocolate with butter cream yellow roses and lavendar accents for inlaws anniversary. Roses were too close to the edge, so they kept pulling off the edges, but inlaws loved it anyway. Fun learning experience!

Ariel cake made for my daughter's 3rd birthday in January 2010. It was my first gluten free cake, having been diagnosed with celiac disease only 3 weeks before her party. Please ignore Ariel's unsymmetical eyes.

These were made from a gluten-free mix, but I added homemade cinnamon apple filling, caramel buttercream, and a caramel drizzle. The wrappers had the Eiffel Tower and the words "bon jour" on them, to celebrate my best friend finally realizing her dream of traveling to Paris!
