First time making MMF (chocolate) to cover the football, first time using a shaped cake pan, first time torting & filling a sheet cake, first time doing grass, first time doing a FBCT for the logo (which fell apart when being stuck to a curved surface)... not too bad, I think. Just hope I don't freak out when they cut the cake at the party tomorrow. :-)

Requested by a client for a football party. This is the one I have color issues with. I just don't understand how you can patch a booboo with icing from the same bucket you iced the stupid thing with, and have it be a lighter color blue. If someone could explain that to me, I'd be everlastingly grateful.

My niece is a die hard Patriots fan (or Tom Brady fan...) and wanted this for her birthday. The end zone and center field decorations are painted candy clay. The rest is buttercream. Bordered with a brown puff border decorated with white laces to resemble little footballs. Hope she likes it.

This cake is for a Superbowl/birthday party today for some diehard Bears fans. It is 3D sculpted. All cake and BC, then airbrushed to match the logo. This cake was a blast to do, I can't wait for the Bears to win so I can do it again! ;)

I used the same cake ball recipe that we all use for Christmas, but shaped them into footballs and used store bought icing to draw on laces. I didn't lace all of them since the icing didn't harden. My DH's eratic driving cause a little mess.

I made this for a superbowl party, and it was a huge sucess! I got the idea from the last ACD magazine, and just changed it up a bit. The helmets are covered in fondant, and the guards were made from pastillage. I used the basket ball pans to acheive the round tops on the helmets.

This one was a little easier then my practice cake, guess I learned from my mistakes the first time. Logo's are FBCT, cake is devils food, frosting was vanilla hazelnut.

This was for a sports themed baby shower. The sports ball pan was used for the basketball and baseball. I used a 9inch loaf pan for the football and carved the shape. I used the star tip to frost all three.

I swore I wasn't going to make a cake if the Pat's didn't get to the superbowl but as decorators you know we can't pass up a cake if we really are itching to make one. I used a 13 inch oval and carved off the sides and edges to give it a more traditional shape. I hadn't done that before. I could critique what is wrong with it but I know I was rushed. My family was out in the car waiting for us to leave for a party. Two hours before the party I started mixing the cake batter. lol

This was my attempt at a superbowl cake. We were had to two parties to go to so I made two of the cakes and 48 cupcakes. Since I had so many to do I decided to keep my design simple.

The large football is rice krispy treat covered in fondant. The cupcakes have buttercream grass with fondant footballs.

We used the Wilton Football pan; cut the cake in half to create a half size 3-D Football bursting out of the field in a halftime show presentation.
