This is definitely not a great picture...lighting was off. I'll have another picture of these when the cake they're going on is finished. These were made of gumpaste and dusted in moss, periwinkle, and violet. This small nosegay will sit in the center of a lemon cake filled with strawberry cream and frosted with pink Italian Meringue buttercream with white scrolls.

Fast and very easy cake made from the Wilton Flower Pot pan. The idea was taken from the Wilton Yearbook 2002. I have made several of these for my daughters' school's Ice Cream Social.

First I piped on a swirl of lime green buttercream, then piped on the daisy's white petals with my leaf tip. The middles were about a dozen little yellow dots in a cluster.

This is my first cake with fondant. I made a whole bunch of flowers but ended up only using the ones on the cake. She had cala lilies in her wedding bouquet.

I think this was my first MMF fondant cake. I was also practicing the tiering - pillars and stacking. Was happy with this one for a first try. Had trouble making the fondant rope. Flowers are royal icing.

For the person who loves flowers, VW bugs, and the 60's. This cake I made for my daughters birthday. She's into the flower power decor.

I used white fondant for the cakes (Lemon-Raspberry inside!) and made the tiny flowers in gumpaste...then brushed them with lilac irridescent powder. The leaves were brushed with green irridescent powder.

This is the other side of my practice cake. I tried the brush embroidery technique, but because I was too lazy to make fresh royal icing, the brush strokes disappeared in only a few minutes! Next time I'll get it right!

This is a graduation cake for a coworker who just completed a year course in massage.
Thought I'd go with something other the usual graduation cap.

I made these also for the coworker who graduated, I wanted to make sure there was plenty of cake!!! These were kind of practice for the cake I'm decorating tomorrow for my grandma's birthday

This is a cake I made for my in-law's 50th anniversary party. It didn't turn out anything like I envisioned. If it could go wrong, it did. I intend to post all that I learned from this later, after I recover from the 3 week sprint to get it done. It is white cake iced in buttercream and dusted with white cake sparkles and gold luster dust. Some of the flowers were fondant, others were silk. I think all ended up ok, but not my best work.

This bride's colours were black and pink, so I did the cookies with tiny pink dots for rosebuds and tiny green leaves. I toyed with doing the bottom border in black, but went with matching pink in the end. I was too afraid it would look weird on a wedding cookie!

This is a wedding cake that I did for my sister on a 2 days notice for her wedding. Her husband is in the army and they moved up his ship out date so they had to move up the wedding by a month. This cake is vailla, chocolate and strawberry. With filling in each. Covered in fondant. This was my first time using fondant and with 2 days to make the cake I think that it was the wrong time to try it. This is only the second cake that I've actually decoreated/made. Thanks for looking...

This is just a practice cake. I was trying to get better at my roses. But my icing was too soft...

I baked this while I was away for the weekend at Lake Tahoe (altitude 6500 feet). I'm not used to the high altitude cooking corrections. This was a disastrous crumbling mess, but my husband encouraged me to try to put it together with frosting. I had no idea it would work so well! Frosting really does cover a multitude of sins...

Thanks to "ngerland" and to Martha Stewart for inspiration.

This cake was made for a friends 40th birthday. The cake is chocolate mud cake with lemon coloured fondant. The beautiful fresh flowers on the top make it look like a box of flowers you might buy from the florist

The two chocolate mud cakes were iced with vanilla frosting and joined with a wreath of fresh roses. A small bouquet was added to the top for a finishing touch.

This is a two teir chocolate cake with chocolate fudge filling, frosted in buttercream. Branches made from chocolate frosting, and all other detail is from colored buttercream. This was made for my husbands work BBQ. I saw the other one's made...that were inspired by Martha Stewart, I thought they were so cute so I used those as my inspiration! The website was down last night so I winged it on the detail.

Trying out a stencil on crusted buttercream using buttercream for the design. The trick seems to be getting the right amount of frosting on the stencil. Too much and it pulls up with the stencil. Too little and it does not have much dimension. Still very pretty and it looks like you did a lot of work when you really did not.

I just made this cake to practice what we've been learning in my Wilton I class. I got the idea out of the Wilton I book, but added the roses I did the night before.

This was my other fair entry from last night for the Special Occasion/Parties cake division. I used royal icing and painted with food coloring after it dried. The bottom collar broke into 4 pieces while I was putting it together! I "glued" it to the base with more royal icing. This is my first royal iced cake.

This is a three-layer cake I made for a co-worker who was leaving for another job. It was a huge hit at the office. This is cake number two for me and I can't wait to do more - I had no idea this was so much fun!

Thanks for looking!

This is my favorite cake yet! I was thinking about doing a cake covered in daisies and it's all I had hoped it would be. It took a long time to make the daisies - my sister and I sat at the kitchen table with coffee and rolled fondant for hours!

This is a three layer cake (french vanilla, pistachio, french vanilla) with peppermint buttercream icing and rolled fondant (daisies).

Thanks for looking!

Inspired by design in Wilton 2005 yearbook. Two 12" cakes with 5" centers cut out and styrofoam rounds put in place. BC with fondant flowers. Cookies on stick. Gumpaste letters. Forgot to add florist wire curlies around cookies before taking pic:)

This was the cake I made for my own wedding. Very simple, main section was basic french vanilla cake and satellites were chocolate, all iced with snowwhite buttercream, fresh flower accents.

I have decided to start naming my cakes after the people they are made for, so meet Leighanne. :)

This is a confetti cake with cherry icing and fondant flowers. I am frustrated with the tiny holes in my buttercream - I smoothed with parchment paper but I'm just not sure what's causing the bubbles/holes. Maybe I'll post on the forum with pics for some great advice...

Thanks for looking!

This could be a wedding cake in a larger form. It's a vegan chocolate cake with buttercream icing and decorations.

I thought these cupcakes were going to be a real hassle because the buttercream leaves & flowers were to be piped on top of them...but they weren't as bad as I'd expected!

First, I smoothed the Bailey's Chocolate Buttercream and the Grand Marnier Vanilla Buttercream tops with a small off-set palette knife...then I piped the leaves and flowers onto parchment-lined cookie sheets, froze them and then just placed them on all the cupcakes.

Froze the cupcakes overnight for easier transport/delivery/setup!!

This cake was so fun to make! It actually turned out almost exactly like my drawing. I usually change the plan part way through decorating, but not this time! Each cake is a different flavor, white on the bottom, then chocolate, lemon, and topped with a chai bassinet. All buttercream except for the butterflies, which are not edible.
