First attempt at this gumpaste orchid and filler flower. I had difficulty wiring the sepals and petals to the throat. I would appreciate tips and constructive criticism from the CC community, especially regarding its realism, wiring ,and staging for the photo. Hoping the photo uploads clearly. Thanks for looking!

This was a just for fun cake. It's all buttercream. I made if for my boyfriends Mom to take to work to share with her co-workers. It's the most simple cake I've done but I sure loved it - I wanted to just sit & look at it forever.

This cake was covered in fondant, and then I took a stencil that I found and painted on the flowers using food colour paste (diluted abit). I had to pin the stencil in place while working, just to prevent it from moving around too much. It was very time comsuming. The bride had a wedding dress which had matching red flowers embrodered on it. Together it looked really nice.

3 layer devil's food with vanilla buttercream filling/frosting. Brushed flowers and leaves with thinned buttercream icing. The brushing worked well once the iced cake had time to chill for a while. I was happy with the outcome, but would use a different color green next time.

I wanted to make a cake for my bf's parents since they have been letting me use their oven since mine hasn't been working and this way I got to practice my cornelli lace. I am not happy with the way it turned out... but it's better than the last time... it just kills my hand. I can do it great on paper then when it comes to doing on a cake, forget it!

I did these last month for my niece's birthday party at school. Had lots of fun playing with new techniques ( I think they were all copied from the Wilton website or books though so not really any original ideas!) Feel free to critique!

Here's a pic of the peony I made this weekend in class. It took a really long time to put all the petals together, but well worth the effort.

Here's the passion flower I made this weekend in class. It took roughly 5 hours to put all of the pieces together. Everything is gumpaste! The flower's story is that it's a representation of the Crucifixion of Christ. The red styles represent the 3 nails, the round white ovary - the hammer, the 5 stamen - the 5 wounds, the spiked corolla - the crown of thorns, and the tens sepals (petals) - the 10 loyal apostles. It was a fanstastic experience.

This was my first time making flowers and ribbons from fondant. I made this "dummy cake" for a Bridal Show display that I attended this past weekend.( First time at a Bridal Show too...) I based the design from a photo in a recent wedding magazine.

LOL Maybe a circus theme??? This cake is why I need to start planning out my cakes and stop decorating on a whim!!! LOL I'm not very crazy about this cake but oh well :)

I made this cake for a girl who just had surgery. It is a spin off of a Scooby Doo cake from the Wilton Yearbook. I didn't have the flower press though so I had to wing it. Some of the flowers are running together so I learned to always have the press or some sort of pattern! Other than that I'm happy with it.

After a long day in the kitchen (and after throwing away a cake that was so inedible it made my disposal growl), I was getting tired, and this showed. I've never been able to do drop flowers very well. 20 years away from it didn't improve my skills in that department! Plus, I got bored and just "threw" a border on the top. This one was for us to eat, and it smelled so good. Motivation was low, I guess. :)
