This was the first cake I was actually paid to do. I had a hard time getting the icing for the words to stick to the sand I made out of vanilla waffers so I cleared a place so it would look like it was written in the sand.

This was for a 65th birthday. She absolutely loved it. I know the flip flops are not to scale but I meant it that way. I wanted it to be like a big centerpiece on top of the cake. Everything is edible except the flowers on the columns. The flip flops are cake covered in fondant. I had a little problem with that. I put them in the freezer and when they defrosted the fondant got all weird. Oh well, lesson learned. Overall, I'm really happy with the results.

Decorated with RI. I made these for a sweet 16 party with a boat theme. The girl was very specific on colors and designs of; anchors, life preserver, lobsters, sun glasses and flip flops. I made a life preserver cake which I don't have a pic of and am still kicking myself!

Decorated in RI. I had to make 180 pairs of flip flops for a 1st b-day party. I think I managed to make at least 20 different designs. I should have made them a little smaller

This cake was done for a co-worker's birthday who grew up in Hawaii. The hawaiian shirt cake was filled with pineapple, vanilla pudding, cool whip filling. Both cakes are covered in fondant with the flowers on the shirt brush embriodered in buttercream. After we delivered this cake we added some crushed graham crackers around the flip flops to create a beach.

First of all, thank you to mkerton for all of her help!! She gave me the link to the purse cake done by gourmetcakes and mkerton gave me so much help and guidance so thank you!! 12x18 WASC frosted in buttercream. Purse is an 8" round cut in half and frosted with buttercream, decorations on the purse done in fondant. I made a batch of rice krispy treats and used that to form the cell phone and the flip flop. They are both covered in fondant. This is my first time using fondant

My sister saw a flip flop cake in a magazine and called me to make one for her daughter's 6th birthday party. August in the South is HOT and the icing ran a little during the 1.5 hour trip to my sister's.

Here is my interpretation of the flip flop cake. The butterfly is gumpaste I cut with a b-fly cutter then placed in a folded piece of cardstock so it would dry in that shape. Worked great but they are VERY fragile. The straps and banner are gumpaste too. Kind of plain I think but they went along with the invitation.

Done in buttercream with fondant accents. The gentleman I made this for has a photography shop and is an avid surfer. His party had a luau theme. Fun cake, although my hula girl just did not want to stand up. So there she sits. LOL!
