Cake for a celebration in our city, our town has a sister city in Japan & it was the 10th anniversary of the partnership. Fondant emblem, flags, cherry blossoms and branches , 16", 12" and 8" frosted in gold buttercream. (Imagined more of a real gold color of icing in my mind! I guess they meant 'gold-yellow' on the container.

My first entirely fondant covered cake. Dark chocolate cake with raspberry and marzipan filling, painted marshmallow fondant. Covering the whole cake with fondant was more difficult than I thought! I am not happy with the way it turned out (many cracks), but a few strategically placed stars helped.

White cake w/ BC and MMF flag. Cake board is MMF-covered; both flag and board are painted w/ luster dusts. The cake says, "Celebrating Freedom" and is done in royal and then painted in gold luster. Zmama posted a saying on the forums yesterday and I "stole" part of it..thanks! :) I'm pleased with the way the cake came out..decorating the board made a huge difference in the way the cake looks, I think.

Here is my take on the 4th of July Flag cake. I am pretty proud of it. It is very simple, but looked great on the table. It is a coconut cake with strawberry and blueberry filling. White buttercream icing with strawberrys and blueberries on top, yum!

This was two 9x13 cakes "overlapped" to make a 3-D wave of the flag. It also served as a belated birthday cake for two motorcycle riders. So, I incorporated the "freedom" theme with the bikes on the open road across the flag. The road had to bridge the wave of the flag, so I did that, too!

This was for a 4th July Birthday. It was three layers of white cake dyed red white and blue so when it was cut you got a ribbon of colors. One of these days I need to ask for a pic of what the insides look like. Anyways, it is covered in whipped buttercream and topped with strawberries and blue berries. I sprinkled red sanding sugar on the strawberries to get them really red, at the party we sprinled red pop rocks on top so when you ate the cake it "exploded" in your mouth.

I love it when people don't know what they want and just say surprise me!!! This cake didn't come close to what it was sposta look like but I love it. I found the silver sprays at hobby lobby and put royal icing stars in red white and blue on them. The cake is BC with fondant stripes that are painted with luster dust and the top is just painted blue, I still cannot figure out how to ice the top and sides in diffrent colors, I have tried to mask it off with wax paper but it just dosen't work for me.

This is just a cupcake cake I decided to make the morning of the 4th. Vanilla cupcakes w/BC frosting. Took it to a BBQ and no one wanted to eat it. So my 5yr DH said "Oh, you just take one like this and eat it!" And so it began and was gone quickly. Thanks for looking.

My first FBCT cake! The transfer cracked when I put it on the cake, but with some support from my DH and a dry paintbrush, I was able to mend the break! I got the image from clipart online and made a mirror image in MS Photodraw.

Didn't quite turn out how I wanted. I tried to create an old world effect on the sheet cake but I think I went overboard with the antiquing! Well, I have never made a WHOLE sheet cake before. The thing was huge!!! Yikesabee! Covered in fondant with luster dust galore! LOL

Little boy wanted a cake with a flag on it, so this is what I came up with, the fondant drove me nuts, it's very humid and it just wasn't cooperating!
Still haven't heard back from them, hopefully they liked it
