This one really isn't the best cake I've done by far. I learned a lot from it of what I won't do next time. They were happy with it though. The flag, of course, is hand painted fondant and the rest is chocolate buttercream.

I made this for my grandfather-in-law's B-day. He continuously checked on the cake while I was decorating and wanted me to add more and more to it. It ended up being a Memorial day cake as well!!

Not my best work. Border was uneven and I didn't let my flag dry before placing it on the cake. It broke and I had to repair several places by painting royal over the cracks while on the cake.

This is a four-layer chocolate cake, chocolate pudding for filling, with vanilla buttercream. The design is based on the South Korean flag and the green belt represents the karate rank of the person the cake is for. Given my fears about what this would end up like, I'm fairly happy!

These went with the pirate map. They are having 2 parties. The skulls are rings and the bones are royal. They started taking the purple out of the black flags but it was a cool effect.

Made for my great nephew, he is an Apache helicopter pilot in the Army. This was his leaving for Iraq party. Edible image photos in gumpaste braid frames. Fondant flag stencilled with airbrush. First flag I ever tried and made many mistakes. Learned from them though.

Made for a wonderful friend turning 50 who has an amazing ministry worldwide. Flags were placed in the countries they work with. The script is English on one side and Tamil on the other (India). His wife wanted more cake servings for the party so we added a larger cake underneath. I always joke that it turned out to look like a UFO. Buttercream detail.

This was a cake from my first Wilton course...yep, those famous lil' clowns! I just did something a little different to make this for a baby shower. I created and printed from computer, little flags with the letter "J" on them attached to non edible string and toothpicks. One flag with "Baby Juan" is on top of circus tent. Circus tent is an iced cupcake. They are just hanging around waiting for baby Juan to arrive!

My son's 2nd birthday. The cake is two, one layer 6" round cakes placed together to form the racetrack. I didn't want to do the checkered race flag around the entire cake, so I did just a couple.

This is a sugar cookie made for a little boy participating in the Make-a-Wish Foundation. His wish was to be President of the U.S. for a day. One of his "jobs" was to visit my agency, so I made this cookie to welcome him when he had lunch with us. The cookie was a hit.... everyone loved it.

For my sons class today. 2nd of 3 parties I have to bake for ..... the big one is this weekend where he has requested a Jeff Gordon 3D car cake. Knowing this, and the fact that the kids were nice enough to pass on their colds to my husband and I, I didn't get crazy with the cupcakes. Didn't matter to them, though - they devoured them and played with the flags.

I know I posted my finished cakes together, but this one needed a pic of its own. It was a dummy covered with a handpainted flag with fondant cut-out stars and fondant rope with luster dust. This one was my favorite. I didn't want to cut into the flag which is why it is a dummy.
