All Buttercream except for the cracker house, the pretzel tree trunks and the toothpick for the fishing pole in the boat. Modeled after a cake from the Wilton Yearbook and changed slightly to look like my brother's favorite vacation spot. The water is piping gel.

I made this cake for my wonderful and beloved husband who broke his leg last month. He loves fishing, has been practically confined at home and has to have his right leg up most of the time so I wanted to incorporate all that. My DH was really impressed and laughed so hard when he saw the cast and crutches. Used the Superman pan, Wilton fisherman and plastic plants. Icing is butterman and piping gel. Cake base, rock, cast and letters are fondant. Fish is plastic and crutches are toothpicks and fondant.

What a FUN cake and what a time crunch I had for this cake. The groom's cake is fondant with fish and boat. The cake and fish are hand-painted with Luster Dust. The bride's cake was all buttercream. Her wedding colors were purple. I used a cake topper and filed it in half to get the bride and groom. Everyone really loved it and the idea. I wish I had a chance to get better pictures.

The beer box is a chocolate cake covered in white BC with edibile image wrapped around the cake. The handle is gumpaste w/edibile image applied. This is my first 3D cake.

I made this cake for my grandpa's 80th birthday party. The bottom is vanilla cake, middle tier is chocolate, and top is vanilla. He loves hunting and fishing. The cabin on top is a replica of their cabin on the lake. It turned out just like it! He loved it.

Well, it is not one of my favorites but I guess it is ok. The cake is lemon with creamcheese frosting. The fish is buttercream and I had a hard time painting it. I don't like my letters either. I couldn't decide if I needed a border on to or not so I opted not too because I thought it would be too much. Oh well, I hope they like it.

Here's a cake for a fisherman or boy! Thanks to all the great ideas here at CC I put together this cake for my nephew's birthday. He loves to fish. I was a bit scared to do a cake shaped & decorated like a fish so I'm glad I checked here first for ideas. Thanks everyone for posting your pic's to share and to give everyone out there ideas. The rocks are fondant, cattails on top are color flow (they should have been taller), and the bugs and fish are plastic. Everything else is BC. Enjoy!

I got this idea from several other cakes in the fishing area. It was for my son's birthday. I liked it, but the buttercream seemed to "droop" over the top after I put the fondant decoratuibs on. Any suggestions or helpful tips to fix this problem?

A little girl requested for a Hello Kitty cake but since I've not mastered the FBCT yet, I thought some cake toppers will do just as good. She's happy with it & so are the rest of the children. Fishing rod is spaghetti, fish is candy.

All buttercream. This was my first FBCT. The family I made this for loves fishing, so hence the theme. I tried to make a sunset look, but it didn't turn out how I had hoped.

I did this for my husband for father's day because he LOVES to fish. It was my first attempt at a fishing cake. It didn't turn out exactly how I wanted but I guess it is ok for the first try...he sure liked it. Chocolate cake with buttercream frosting.

This is a 1/2 yellow, 1/2 chocolate cake with whipped frosting. The top half is airbrushed with golden yellow and peach colors to look like a sunset. I used a template to make the fish, as i can not do that type of thing freehand. The buyer was thrilled with the look of this cake -- said I was an artist! This idea came from a cake I saw here or on wilton's site.
