The customer wanted something simple - I said I don't do simple - so she said 'oh well he's into fishing' and this is the result.

This was sooo fun!

Frosted in buttercream, models in buttercream fondant, the log is a chocolate covered twinky! Rocks are candy rocks bought at a specialist candy store.

The onlything not edible are the toothpicks for the cattails that my husband said looked like hotdogs, and 4 plastic fish. I used piping gel for the water and chocolate candy river rocks. My ducks need alot more practice. Oh and the trees and palm bushes are not edible. The sign is a chocolate bar.

Hi! This is the first decorated cake I ever made, so I would like some input (positive or negative). This is a whisky and almond cake I made for my boyfriend's birthday. He goes ice fishing a lot in winter. It is covered with homemade marzipan, the bear, trees and fish are also in marzipan. I tried to make my own since I found store bought marzipan too expensive, I was happy mine turned out just as smooth. Thank you for looking!

This is the 3rd cake, with this theme, I have made in the past month & this is my favourite. All modelling was done with sugarpaste (fondant) & his rod is made from dried spaghetti. The side design was done with Patchwork Cutters (yes I know I use them loads, but they're fantastic!)

Made for a guy who likes to fish salmon. I was inspired by a few photos in this gallery. (Thank you all for being soo talented). Carved from an 11x15 cut and stacked. My carving needs some practice. Lemon cake with lemon bc icing, mmf fins, eye & lettering. You can't see it, but there's a big hook in his mouth. I found the platter at a thrift shop for .50, covered it with foil for effect.

This is a FBCT that I made for my brother's birthday. All he requested was a bass, so I went with this idea. It turned out really well and he was happy!

This was my first paid order! A coworker ordered this for her husband who loves to fish. I pulled ideas from several pictures I found on this website, so thank you so much for posting your pictures! This cake was a lot of fun and gave me a new challenge. My coworker and her family loved it! The trees are ice cream cones with buttercream leaves, and the cattails and lilly pads are fondant. The cattails kept breaking because of the moisture from the icing, so I now know to use something else next time!

Inspired by amberhoney's fish cake & also one of Collette's. Gumpaste fish, rod & reeds, fondant rocks. The fish had to be a sturgeon (which aren't the cutest looking fish in the world). Next time I would use a dowel in the tail section for stability, it kept wanting to fall off the side of the cake!

My hubby's birthday cake. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Many firsts for this cake. First carrot cake, first cream cheese frosting, first fondant modelling. And broke 2 records - longest baking time (2.5 hours), shortest decoration time (45 minutes). The fondant man was a last minute addition, made in 30 minutes, just before the dinner, I didn't even have time to colour his attire. But anyhow, I am very happy with how the cake turned out! Thanks for looking.

Okay! You are not going to believe this one! I had two cakes due in the morning and we were right in the middle of a major snow storm with no power!! I had to decorate both cakes via a lantern light! Can you imagine? It was very difficult. This was after I had worked all day and spent two hours driving home in a blizzard. Fishing Creek and Bait Cake - Chocolate Prailine with Cream Filling covered in MMF. All decorations (including bait cup) are MMF. Gummy Worms & Crushed Oreo cookies in bait cup!

This was made for my Uncle, inspired by members of CC. Thank you. I want an airbrush kit, but for now I just used Wilton spray colors on white icing. My uncle tells bad (corny) jokes so we sent this one back to him.

This was my brother's b-day cake. I originally made this cake as a demo wedding cake. It had red roses between layers. I had a ton of cake orders (most I'd ever had) that weekend and by the time I finished them, there was no way I could make one for my brother. I felt so bad, and then I had this idea. I had this cake from the demo and decided to just put fishing stuff all over it. He loves fishing, so he loved his cake. I gave him all of the fishing stuff on it, so he was excited about that, too.

Again I got my inspiration from the CC galleries, thank you all so much for sharing your cake photos!! I made this for my Grandpa's birthday. It gave me quite a bit of trouble, I see a ton of flaws but he really loved it, so did everyone else at the party! It was a chocolate cake with Nutella filling. ( Mmmmm!) Buttercream, chocolate clay straps and fondant fishing flies. Thank you all for helping with this one! I needed it!

Guitar cake pan, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The tree is snow white buttercream, with a pretzel in the center, so that it will hold up and not melt like I seem to get with cream cheese frosting. Fondant rocks and piping gel for water. My first gumpaste figurine.
