I made this for my nephew's b-day, he went through the wilton book and picked this cake out. It is not exactly the same as the cake in there it is missing a layer but I thought it turned out pretty good for only being my 4th cake. The fondant for his fins and eyes were my first experience with fondant and it was neat but it tasted NASTY!! I am not sure I will ever use it again. He loved the cake and he at the fish by himself (pound cake).

This is what happens when someone who likes to make cake gets bored. Silly cakes are made for no reason.

This was a class I took. It is all fondant. I even marbilized the cake light blue and dark blue so that when the cake was cut it still looked like water!

These chocolates (yes chocolate) :) were all hand made by me. They are also flavored! Butter rum, vanilla butter nut, coconut, and mint to name a few. It is eatable art! People can't believe that they are eatable and that they are chocolate. Most people think they are REAL shells! You can see some of the other shells I have been making on my website www.danasflowers.net Enjoy!

I did this cake for my Dad for his b-day. I'd never done a fish cake before, this is the first, it's what he wanted for his cake though! I probably shouldnt' have done the border under the face, it turned out sort of looking like a mustache lol!

This is the cake and smash cake I made for my niece. It is my grandmother's pound cake recipe and buttercream icing. My niece loves fish, so I thought she would enjoy this. She helped me put the Goldfish on her smash cake

This cake was made with the CK Pantastic pan. Never used the plastic pans before but it worked great. The "scales" are buttercream and the fins, tail and lips are candy melts molded in the pan. It was for my brother's b-day and he's hoping it will bring him good luck next time he goes fishing!

My step-daughter & I made this cake for my husband for his birthday this year. We used a lot of unedible pieces because we were short on time & I've never tried fondant. We painted all the props with non toxic paint. The image in the boat is a picture of my DH with a fish he caught on our lake.
We love our lake & all the fish, frogs & turtles we see so this cake was all about that.

I did this for a family birthday (there were 4 of us that celebrated birthdays in the same month). The cake had to travel for about 2 hours and I waited to put the "fins" in until we got there. Which is why they broke - traveling with two toddlers. The icing is lighter on the belly and gets darker towards the top. Other than the fins, it is all done in buttercream. I used the football pan for the shape.

My brother loves EVERYTHING hunting and fishing so I suprised him with this cake...It is a chocolate cake with MMF, the knife and lure are also mmf. I really needed a bigger pan, but oh well. I got the idea from another user here. Sorry i can't remeber the name...but THANKS!! He loved it!

This design is from the wilton wonder mold as well as many ideas from this web site! The little girl wanted a mermaid and a dolphin for her birthday cake. I made the little sea creatures in the water and the dolphin out of fondant and added chocolate seashells dusted with luster dust.

My daughter's work was having a staff motivation meeting and somehow "fish" were involved! I threw this together for them. Used a variety of BC icings mixed together for color and candies for the scales.

Cake I made for my mother in laws birthday last year. She has a Koi pond in her front yard with hostas and other flowering plants. I recreated the pond as close as possible. All buttercream with some gel accents, except for the fish, they were fondant.

I did these last month for my niece's birthday party at school. Had lots of fun playing with new techniques ( I think they were all copied from the Wilton website or books though so not really any original ideas!) Feel free to critique!

I made this Finding Nemo cake for my son's 2nd Birthday. He is a HUGE fan of the film, he has a duvet cover withit on aswell, so this just seemed the obvious choice for his birthday cake.
