This is my daughter's First Birthday cake. The cream cheese icing was really hard to smooth. Otherwise I think it turned out OK.

This was for a combination first birthday and Easter party. I loved the way the cake turned out, but didn't think the photo shows it very well. It's iced in buttercream with cand easter eggs, gumpaste #1 and balloons.

This was my very first decorated cake. I saw it in a magazine during christmas '05. It turned out awful. The icing was discusting and was way too thin. I thought Id post it anyways to see my progress.

I had recalled seeing this cake on the Wilton site and thought I would give it a try. I made this cake in January but I wish I would have added some feet and done something different with the antennas. I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever make another one. I tried to use colors to match the bright napkins and plates for my DD's party.

6" and 8" iced in bc, with fondant accents, and a candy clay name. The crown was bought from the party store. My first stacked cake, I wish it would have come out better.

Madeline requested a pink cake with white flowers and a cross. These were my first roses--everything made out of IMBC.

All iced in buttercream. Small duck is a "smash cake" for the birthday boy that I stuck on the cake, thinking it'd look cute there. Its a mini ball with a donut hole for a head. I'll just have to warn mom about the toothpick inside.

My dad's nick-name for my brother when we were toddlers was Hairy Frog (don't know why. I was Fuzzy Duck) and so the frog has a little toupe on.

Bc. Gumpaste isle. Royal icing flowers. I added a rosery to the top before they picked it up. My DH help me with this one. He made many of the royal flowers since I came down with a killer sinus infection two days before this was due. I was so medicated, I was too shaky to make the flowers. But it looked okay. Making the windows and the kneeler was the pits.

My second try using fondant. Same design, different color. Fondant is a lot of work, but, it is not bad to work with so far.

This is the first birthday cake for a friend's twin boys. It is a 1/2 sheet cake and took a lot more icing than I originally anticipated. I think I used a total of 7 batches of buttercream icing (I lost count around 5).
