Cakes for a girl's first birthday. The little girl loves to dress in her older sister's tiaras, so the mom requested something related to "dress up." The fondant tiara was my interpretation. Main cake is dark choc with choc buttercream w/ bc and fondant decorations. Small cake is French vanilla tinted pink with fondant daisies and crown.

Cake is an 8" square carved to resemble a flower pot with a 4 x 4 on top for dimension. Bottom and sides are covered with fondant after a thick coat of buttercream. All flowers and bugs are hand rolled fondant. This is a take off on a previous flower pot cake I did. Customer wanted more yellow to match the partyware.

I made this cake for an employee's daughter's first birthday. The theme was polka dots and pink. Buttercream with MMF accents including no. 1 and name.

This is my first attempt at a fondant cake and I spent ages planning it for my daughters 1st birthday. The cake board was made of foam board, covered with foild and then rolled brown fondant. The cake was the chocolate sponge recipe from boonenati on this site. I made 2 round cakes in bowls, shaped and put together with chocolate butter icing. I made the marshmellow fondant from cakecentral recipe and it tured out really well. Watering can spout icing with dowel through, handle's, Fifi are gum paste.

I made this cake for a little girls 1st birthday. The elephant is a huffalump from Whinnie the Pooh and is made in to a FBCT. I made the elephant a few months ago out of chocoate for a trail run, but decided to do it as a FBCT cause I like them better.

A birthday cake for the 1st birthday of my employers' daughter. She loves the Teletubbies and La-La is her favourite. 8in lemon cake filled with lemon curd and decorated with lemon buttercream. Gumpaste La-la, name, age and wired topper. Royal icing drop flowers. The mini ball smash cake is banana cake with cream cheese frosting, both as low-sugar as I could make them! Baby pink disco glitter on all the pink things.

This was the first multi layered cake I have attrempted. Its a whole new world, but this one was a good start. I used homemade fondant and glass balls from the craft store. Overall everyone loved it.

My one year old's favorite thing.... Balls.........First cake I've ever made...It's a little bit of everything...fondant, buttercream icing, white chocolate spongecake w/ marzipan...Sounds crazy but the end result wasn't bad at all!!

Here is the cake I made for my daughter's first birthday. The bottom cake is 4 layers of chocolate cake with 3 layers of cheesecake filling and the top two layers are yellow cake with whipped chocolate ganache. My sweet little girl LOVED her cake:)

This was the candle cake for my godson's first birthday. He pushed a balloon into the side of it and smashed the icing just before I snapped the pic. Oh well! He destroyed a few minutes later anyway!!! As long as he had fun with it!

I made this cake for my son's first birthday. It was only the second cake I have ever done. It is chocolate cake covered in buttercream with fondant decorations. The '1' on top and the star are made with craft foam.

A square slab first birthday cake modelled after baby building blocks. Letters refer to baby's initials; numbers are her birthday (5/13/02). The little toys are candy molds. Could also be use as a baby shower cake.

I did this for a friend's little boy. I matched it to the invitation, which was blue and green with polka dots and stipes. It is buttercream and the sides are blue and white basketweave (sorry, it's hard to see).

This has become a classic! I did one for my son's first birthday (not this pink one LOL) and everyone I know wants one for their childrens first. I have done so many color combo's using shells, dots, stars etc. Its a fun one!

the mom asked for a round cake and emailed me a website with a picture of the paper products. Frosted in buttercream and freehanded the MMF cutouts for the design
