This is a cake I did for a friend's 30th birthday. Of course he was a firefighter! The bottom was three layers of white cake, the top was two layers of chocolate cake and the "buildings" and fire were made out of fondant.

I made this cake for my step-son's 11th birthday. He loves all things fireman. He has a tiny little clock that has a helmet on top of a hose and he asked me to make the cake like that. I made the helmet like the directions on this site and I put it on top of an angled 4 layer cake that I put in the center of a real water hose. I wanted to carve a cake to resemble a water hose, but I just don't think I am that talented!!!! He enjoyed his cake! I have another angle of the cake that shows the fbct.

My son requested a firefighter themed cake for his 6th birthday.
I had no idea what I was going to do, then I decided to flame around the
sides of the cake and put a toy truck on top.....since I couldn't find any
ideas anywhere. This is my third cake that I've made and decorated
myself. Everyone loved the cake and my birthday boy was thrilled with it.

This was a cake for my hubby's coworker, she is a Volunteer Fire Fighter. Dalmation and fire hydrant made out of fondant, water is colored piping gel. Iced in buttercream, which melted on me, hence all the mistakes. Black dots are fondant.

This was for a firefighter graduation. They wanted flames on the sides. I had never done flames before but they didn't turn out too bad. I will post a side view to try to show the flames.

This was the easiest grooms cake ever. So the bride calls and say make him a cake. He likes caramel frosting, the kind you get at the grocery store and yellow cake. And hes a fireman. Do it on the cheap. I bought carmel frosting at supplier a mixed it with my own B/C for stability. And bought an edible image. The hose and mini hydrant were fondant. He was so thrilled to have his own little cake. He had been pouting with hurt feeligs because he felt left out.

This was my son's Third birthday cake. It was a good thing I made all the cupcakes to go alongside it, because noone would let me cut the helmet! Thanks to all the CC'ers who contributed pictures of their helmets (and instructions!); they were of great help to me.

This cake was for my son's birthday. I used buttercream icing on all 3 cakes. Most decorations were in fondant. Lettering and "fire" around the orange cake are made of colored chocolate piped onto waxed paper. I used a silicone pastry brush to texturize the chocolate cake.

Everything is fondant. The "brass" eagle, shield, buckle, brim and bugle medallions were all made about 2 weeks prior to cake construction to allow for drying time. Thanks to everyone for suggestions and help!

Short on time, so elaborate fire engine iI wanted to make, ended up being just a Little People's fire truck. I did make royal icing water droplets attached to floral wire coming out of a nozzle and a hose made out of black fondant. I stuck the nozzle in the dalmations paws, and the hose was attached to the fire truck with icing. When the candles were lit, the dog looked like he was really trying to spray the candles out. Simple! SImple! but cousin's little boy really seemed thrilled over it, anyway.

This is one of three cakes I did for a local fire dept awards banquet. Cake is buttercream, plaque is all fondant. The individual "brass" details on the cross were hand painted on yellow fondant with a layer of brown food color, followed with a gold luster dust with a tinge of green to get that seasoned "brass" look. These were my first sheet cakes, a big thanks for help on the boards from Indydebi and others for baking tips and cake sizes. :)

This is one of three cakes I recently did for a local fire dept awards banquet. The dome of the helmet is covered with chocolate fondant. The brim, sheild, eagle and buckle are all fondant (some gumpaste) and were all done weeks ahead and allowed to dry and harden.

I made this cake to take to my husbands fire station as a surprise on Valentines Day. Chocolate cake with cookies n' cream filling, iced in whipped cream with BC borders. I threw the little plastic firemen on at the last minute just for fun. They loved it!

I made this fire truck for a firefighter's birthday here in Tucson. This was my first fire truck andI had a few issues with it. It looks like it is leaning, so my husband and I decided that I should make it look like it was turning sharply.

This was my first attempt at a buttercream transfer, unfortunately I did it on parchment paper instead of waxed paper, and It all did not come off when I tried to put it on the cake, so plenty of bad touch ups, but I learned a good lesson, so the next one will be better. All buttercream 10" marble and white with vanilla filing. Used a tube of red icing since I origionally was going to only do the red on the maltese cross, but did border & was running very low, thats why dots are pointy. Tasted good anyway!

I made this for my son's smash cake. He had a Firefighter themed B-day and I made a fire truck for everyone else to eat. I frosted it with CB Icing and the accents are made with Fondant. When the candle was light, it looked like he was fighting the flame. I would have included the firetruck but the picture was a little dark. Hope you enjoy!
