I made this as a going away cake for my coworker who was moving from NYC to Washington state. It is a frosted with hazelnut buttercream with fondant accents. I attached printed images to fondant for the postcards and used a decorator comb to give the cake some texture. This was my first try at making a 3D cake and I really enjoyed it.

This is a cake I made for friends who were moving. WASC cake with BC. Road is fondant, as is covering on truck. I didn't leave myself enough time to make it so it's a little hurried. I actually didn't want the frosting smooth, I wanted it to look like rolling hills. Thanks to Macsmom for the inspiration!

Our friends & poker buddies are moving away, so I made this cake for their farewell party. It's my first shaped cake (I cut the hexagon from a 14" round) and I'm really pleased with how it turned out! My DH helped with the lustre dust. It's a yellow cake with MMF. All decorations are edible.

This cake is an 11X15 sheet cake covered in blue fondant. The hard hat is made by using the soccer ball cake pan with a 9 inch round cake underneath it. It has fondant details attached to the cake with dowel rods and then covered in fondant. Standard dowel rod tier construction was used to stack the cake. Wilton 21 Star tip was used to make the star border. Writing was done in Wilton tip 2.

I combined several idea's I found here on cake central and put it into one cake. Thank you all for the inspiration! This cake was for an intern that was heading back to college and was also leaving Texas as well so I thought this theme would fit best. Though the horsehoes were my idea, it was a fix for my crappy writing job, my centering was way off, lol! but I think it worked out very well, it goes with the theme. Cake is buttercremed with fondant hills, rope, and horeshoes. Everything else is buttercream. Thanks for looking!

My friends family invites this girl from Germany to stay with them for 6 weeks practically every summer and will be heading off to college in the fall, so they wanted to do a special farewell cake for her.
So I thought that a globe, made completely of cake, with her "On Top of The World" would be great. You can't actually tell, but the airplane is floating above the globe on a thin wire and really looked like it was flying.
The banner across the equator says "Never too far away from our hearts" and has 5 keys with the initials of each member of the family to represent the "Key to their heart".
The cake was a hit and it was great to see Kathi so happy on her last day in town!
Have a great first year at University Kathi! Hopefully we'll see you soon! Thanks for looking.

This is a book shaped cake on top of a large sheet cake. I am sure it will be way more than we need :) but just the book shaped would not have been enough.

One of the Priest of our parisyh was being reassigned and they asked me to do the farewell cake. His Name is Fr. Lamb, and he is originally from Boston and is a HUGE Boston Red Sox fan as well as a retired Military Chaplain. So I did a 3D Lamb cake dressed in black with a white collar, Boston Red Sox cap out of fondant, Red Sox Banner on the base cake as well as the Chaplain Corp emblem. I think it really turned out great and Fr. Lamb loved it too.

This was a farewell cake for an employee at a Fire Protection Company. Everything is edible, the labels are printed edible icing. The handles, hose and accessories are all made from fondant mixed with gum trag. It was a butter cake which is his favourite flavour and once cut would look like the contents of an extinguisher....I am told :) LOL. Thanks for browsing.

My co-worker (name starts with an "R") is a HUGE Calgary Flames fan and is leaving our organization. Wanted to make a cake that reflected her love for her team and the fact that we'll miss her, but on a positive note, she's moving onto bigger and better things! Red velvet cake with white choc cream cheese filling/icing (at her request), mmf and mmf decorations. "R" is hand-painted fondant.
