I wish I could say this one was fun to make, but it wasn't. The cake turned out way too fluffy & I had a very difficult time frosting it without it crumbling. By midnight on Sunday night I was ready for it to be done with. Oh well, at least it turned out cute & it was a good learning experience.

So many firsts for me with this cake. Made for my friend's daughter, after she fell in love with tiffy76620's cake. I made a couple small changes, but it's really close. Top and bottom layers are chocolate with chocolate buttercream, middle is lemon with raspberry buttercream. All decorations are fondant, and Dora is covered in fondant as my friend didn't have a princess Dora figurine. "Firsts" for me- delivering a stacked cake, and assembling on site-with people around watching (YIKES!!)

I made this for my goddaughter's 4th birthday party. The head and crown are styrofoam covered in fondant, but the rest is all cake. I left off a few details due to time constraints.

Butter cake recipe. I baked the cake in a doll baby pan and then drew the Dora design freehand. The skin was caramel icing. The colors were mixed from liquid food coloring.

Inspired by Sugarshack's 3-tiered design. Covered in fondant and airbrushed. Edible image plaque characters. Totally forgot to make the "2" ahead of time, so had to run out and buy an alternative at a party store. ;-)

A client asked me to do a small tiered Dora cake for 10-12 kids. This is what I came up with. I quoted her $50 and then got way too carried away and made it way bigger than I wanted, spent way too much time on it and ended up losing money...but they liked it, so I was happy. I have to find a way to stop undercharging!! any advice?? all is edible except dora
