I made this for my daughter's 2nd birthday. Everything is edible except for Dora, Boots, and Swiper. Dora's house is made of rice krispies treats. Every details is made out of fondant. I sponge painted the board. I was trying to do the three stages of Dora's show, forest, waterfall, Dora's house.

Here's a better look at Dora's house. This is the first house I ever constructed, so there are some definite mistakes, but I'm pretty happy with it. I did it all from memory and looking at my daughter's Dora videos, because I did a search on the web and noone has done this in cake. It's rice krispies treats covered in fondant. The vines are hand painted. The door and window details were individually cut and attached one by one.

I had so much help from various CC members on this cake---thank you for your inspiration and willingness to share ideas. Cake is covered in BC; all accents are Rolled Fondant. This was a lot of prep work, but worth it to hear how much the 2 year old recipient loved it!

This cake was made for a birthday party for a little girl that loved Dora. I traced a dora page out of a coloring book on to wax paper and used piping gel for my outlines. The path is crushed
graham crackers.

These cakes were made for my daughter's 2nd Birthday. It was a Dora the Explorer themed party and the cakes are actually brownie cupcakes, with chocolate ganash, and covered in fondant. The flowers, butterflies and her name were all hand made from fondant.

Thanks so much to CranberryClo for her cake that I darn near copied for this. The cupcakes are devil's food. The icing is buttercream (half butter half crisco). The gator is fondant (I made him!) and the rocks are edible. They taste a bit like sixlets, the candy. The figures were purchased at Big Lots for $4.50. It also came with Dora. I am volunteering for a local foster home called Angels Arms. I am making cakes for each of the 12 children that live there as well as the parents. I am so proud of me!

The bottom is vanilla with raspberry BC filling. Dora is vanilla caramel pound cake. Vanilla BC with fondant accents. Just as I was getting ready to deliver the cake half of her hair and face slid off! Luckily I was able to reconstruct and this is the end result. Thanks for the great idea Nicole!

Hair is chocolate. Face colors are a little light in photos because they were made 2 days in advance. I am told BC icing darkened nicely.
