2 10x7x4 madeira cakes stacked with straws through it just to hold it together and stop them sliding. 3 layers of vanilla buttercream and tart raspberry jam. Ladders were gumpaste then painted with silver edible paint. I made sam out of gumpaste and he is held together with 3 cocktail sticks ( one holding his head on and one in each leg into his body) and sugar glue. Cheated and bought the red icing as I needed quite a lot of it. Inspiration from all the fireman sam cakes on here. Thank you.

I bought this kit from Ebay. It came with Thomas' face plate, plastic wheels, the number one and Thomas' top funnel. It also included instructions to cut and stack a 12x18 cake and decorate like Thomas. I made this cake for my son's 3rd birthday. I also set up a battery operated track around the cake and had a battery operated Thomas pulling a bunch of troublesome trucks filled with candy. THAT was the big hit with the kids.

I was booked for this shower months in advance. Two weeks before the shower I called my customer to confirm, and she said that the baby had already been born at only 27 weeks gestation. She was still throwing the shower because the baby was doing well and expected to make it, and she thought the parents would need a break from the NICU. Both parents are volunteer firefighters, so it was always going to be a fire truck themed cake, but we added another element of one calendar date with the baby's due date, and one with his real birthday, and lots of other scattered calendar pages around the top tier. I hope the parents love it!

This was a groom's cake. It was a chocolate cake covered in chocolate fondant, mmf with gumpaste accents. The groom's grandmother used to make her grandson a train cake every year for his birthday. He had requested that she make him one for his wedding. Since she had lost strength in her hands and shook so bad she was unable to make it. Therefore, I got the privilege. The numbers are the wedding date and the initials are the bride and groom's.

This cake was for a 6 year old boy who wanted a firetruck party. I made the cake to travel 3 hours in the Texas heat and humidity. I had a bit of problems with the length of the truck and the cake sinking. All in all, I had a good time and learned a lot. I will never do a fire engine last minute.

I made this for my son's 3rd birthday. He loved it! "oh mommy, its beautiful" Iced in buttercream. The bottom is 3 layers. Tidmouth shed, the mountains, board, tracks, and his name done in fondant. It took a long time but I was really proud of it. And it was worth it to see how much he loved it.

I couldn't find a Thomas pan locally so I baked the cake in Wilton's Train Pan. I had to do a little trimming to make it work for Thomas. It probably would've been easier to cut out the pattern from a sheet cake - haha.

This was a cake I did for a Retirement/Birthday, the guy worked for the train company for over 30 years and his invitation had pictures of these trains. He saw the evolution of the engine as you see them here. All the trains are made of yellow cake with buttercream and covered in fondant, the base of the cake is a yellow cake with buttercream frosting covered in fondant, I used my airbrush to color the base of the cake, the tracks are made from buttercream and the gravel is made of candy.

This cake was for a woman whose son was heading off to firefighting school. The building is iced in BC with MMF accents, the tree and fire engine are carved/sculpted RKT covered with MMF. Figures are MMF and decorations are MMF or BC. Cake- 8" 2 layers of choc wasc and 2 layers of yellow cake both filled with choc bc plus a layer of RKT to add height. The scale is a wee bit off, the firefighter would punch through the roof if he stood in the building! lol but I've decided to call that aspect whimsy... The dog is made to look like her son's, the joke being he can't put out the fire because his dog is sitting on it (thanks to a fellow CC'er for the idea on that- I remember seeing something like that but couldn't find the pic again) Sorry for the long winded description and thanks for looking!

Client requested a cake with train tracks and harbor, with Thomas, Salty, Harvey, Cranky, and a barge and a storage shed on it. As of now, still waiting on the dang shed to dry, and am not all that sure where the heck it will go. I really hope she likes it, 'cuz it took me 4 freaking days to finish these characters! It's a half sheet with piping gel for water. I got permission to use the characters.

This was a cake made for a ittle guy turning 2. He really like it. The train is pastic, so He could play with it afterwards. A request from his mother. The tunnels have edward, james, and percy popping out of them and one tunnel is empty. Bottom and top tier are chocolate with cookies and cream filling. I also created train cookies as favors with all the guests names on them (last minute add on). I forgot to get a photo of those though. Isnt that always how it goes. lol
