I love buttercream transfers. It really is minimal effort for maximum effect (like basketweaving). Because of its size, this one cracked in the middle. Luckily I was able to smooth it and cover up the crack...lesson learned. Thanks for looking!

This cake is decorated w/buttercream. The fur was done with tip # to give it kinda a 3-D look. The eyes and nose were also done with a 3-D look. I wanted to some how incorporate the sesame street sign but I did not have mch room, so I used the green and yellow color from the sign on the sides and trim of cake.

This was for my daughter's 2nd birthday and my first character cake. The hardest part was making the mouth, nose, and eyes smooth. But it was a lot of fun and she really enjoyed it.

I made this for my godson's 1st b-day. I got the idea from the galleries (pinkflamingo - thanks). I found out the night before that they were coming over and wanted something cute but not too difficult since I didn't have much time to prepare. The eyes & nose were made from cake balls dipped in white chocolate but, I made them a little too big and of course I didn't realize until after I had dipped them and I only had those three. I had to scrape off icing and redo the mouth and some fur to accomodate.

This cake looked fine...until I moved it! :-( The arms are just icing and one side fell almost completely off! I fixed it for now but somehow this cake has to travel a whole hour tomorrow and I am just not sure if its going to make it. Its a large cake. The structure is sturdy but the icing is not so durable.

Elmo is actually made with candy melts, not cake. I used the Elmo shape pan, filled it in stages, and supported it with a cut-out cake board. The face, whites of eyes, and nose are candy melts, the black is icing. It was so much easier and quicker than making another cake. The kids were able to break off a chunk of Elmo to take home in their treat bags, too! the friends around the cake were found at the dollar store.

This was a 16 inch square chocolate cake on the bottom, and a white Elmo on top. Elmo was a big hit, and everyone here gave me such good advice on how to make this. This was my second cake, and my first stacked attempt, so I was very happy that it turned out successful. I definitely have alot of room for improvement, but I'm still proud!!

This was for a little girl's 2nd birthday celebration. All the characters on the cake are made of sugar. Elmo is her favorite, so he is on top........"Happy Birthday" is in a crayon style to represent Elmo's crayon skills during his segment of Sesame Street called "Elmo's World".
