I was asked to incorporate the party plates that had the pink background w/these multi-colored polka dots & a lime green trim, but also incorporate the orange #6 on the shirt of the bday girl w/dots as well, AND the invitations which had roller skates on them, lol. So, this is what I came up with. I did the laces on the front skate w/fondant so it looked sorta 3D'ish. They all loved it & so did I! TFL =)

This is my first wedding cake for a family friend. The bride gave me a picture of a cake from Bride magazine. The bottom 3 tiers are cake dummies, the top two are real cakes. Covered in fondant. Fondant water lily on top. I also made cupcakes to go with the cake

This was my first attempt with making a cake for someone other than family or friends. I used buttercreram icing, and the decorations are out of fondant, next time I'll use gum paste for anything that has to stand :)

Baby girl shower cake. Thanks for inspiration on baby and design cathy24. Buttercream with fondant accents, royal icing letters dusted with pearl dust. Buttercream was beastly last night- got to love humid summer nights! Overall happy though- don't love how border on top tier turned out, but no big deal! TFL!

I made this cake for a friend's baby shower. I was given a picture by another friend and tried to make it resemble what she wanted. The cake is covered in buttercream icing with fondant polka dots and stripes. My friend wanted it to have a "fondant covered" look, but with buttercream. I tried my best to round the edges of the buttercream to make it look more like a fondant covered cake. Everybody seemed to like it. Top layer is chocolate, bottom layer is a vanilla. Chocolate letters gave me trouble but the mom-to-be enjoyed them.

Made this for my friends birthday. She said she wanted pink, black, polka dots, stripes and said "Make it Brittany bright!" (She's a very colorful person!) The bottom layer is chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting, and the top and cupcakes are white chocolate cake with white chocolate cream cheese. Both were amazingly delicious! I learned that i absolutely LOVE doing polka dots too! I did end up adding a black buttercream border on the top of the bottom layer that i didn't get pics of. I didn't like how the stripes just ended abruptly.

Strawberry shortcake theme my daughter chose. We looked at LOTS of pictures on cc and combined some ideas. So thank you to all who have strawberry shortcake cakes posted for your ideas. strawberry is fondant with chocolate cake inside and the other layers are fondant with white chocolate cake and strawberry filling. thanks for looking. all the work was totally worth seeing the look on my daughters face seeing her very own strawberry shortcake cake.

Bows are dried MMF with Gum Tex added for stability. Black details are Royal icing. Everything is eddible. Fall '08

This is a cake I made for a little girl's 8th birthday. She wanted a 2 tier pink and green cake with stripes and polka dots. The cake is iced in BC with fondant accents. I wish I had made my buttercream a little smoother, but overall I'm happy with it.

Winnie the pooh cake done to match the invitation. Buttercream with fondant and gumpaste accents and fondant/gumpaste pooh. Came up with the smash cake on my own. Actually turned into my first cake disaster, when I got to delivery site to meet the girl, Pooh had fell off and took two chunks of icing with him. Repaired as best I could. Guess it was okay, because the girl put in another order before she left. ;)
