Dinosaurs are fondant. Lava is fondant, tree trunks are tootsie roll. The volcano is a small cake pan I found at a second hand store. This cake is
an inspiration from another cake like this posted on this site. I don't remember whose it was, but thank you for sharing your idea.

I made this cake to match a napkin with an orange background. The dinosaurs are chocolate and I wish I had made them bigger but the kids liked them!

This cake was constructed from one 10" round and one 9" round. Chocolate cake brushed with morello cherry preserves and filled with chocolate buttercream. The feet are bits of cake, the tail and neck are made from RCT while the head is crumpled foil. The head was originally RCT but it got too soft so the neck dowel started pushing through the head and caused a severe skull fracture. The whole cake is covered in fondant. I originally airbrushed the cake but did not like the outcome so hand painted it on top.

I made this cake for a little boy's birthday. I found a coloring page on the internet and traced the outline onto waxed paper. Then I cut it out and laid it over the cake and tooth-picked around it for a guideline. I have always loved this movie and it was a lot of fun working on it! Thanks for looking!

My son's 3rd birthday cake. It was french vanilla with vanilla mousse. All edible except for the head, which we lost that morning. Icing was buttercream and spikes were fondant. We had to carve a head out of styrofoam at the last minute. I got a big WOW from my son. Worth it.

The volcano was baked in an oven safe bowl then placed on top of layered 1/4 sheet cakes. The top was cut off of a soda can, it was thoroughly cleaned & dried and inserted into the volcano. (I was *very* careful to make sure there were no metal shards or splinters on the can.) Dry ice was used to make the volcano "smoke". The dinos and trees are plastic.

These were for our goddaughter's 3rd birthday. She's a big fan of Dorothy the dinosaur (the Wiggles). She loved the cupcakes. Dorothy didn't get eater. She now lives in a cute little cardboard box at her house.

This is fpr my daughters fourth birthday. She is really into dinosaurs, bugs, lizards and such.. This is all buttercream except for the fondant rocks and plastic/rubber toys. She helped me draw and design this cake and was thrilled to see it go from paper to cake! She picked the dinosaurs out of her own collection. (We washed them of course!)

Okay... well this one was a doosie. My son turned 3 last Monday and has totally been into dins for about 1 year now. He saw on here a dino cake w/ a volcano and wanted on. I saw a cake w/ dinos and a water fall and this is what I came up with. It is 4 tiers. Bottom, chocolate, 2nd layer Yellow cake, 3rd and 4th layers Strawberry(egg free...my son has allergies). It was done in BC, with MMF rocks, palm tree leaves and the 3 on front. Water in streams was cut into cake, lined w/ BC and blue jello
