This is a full sheet cake iced in buttercream with fondant decorations. The rope gave me such a hard time. It kept breaking every time I put it on the cake. I was happy with everything about this cake except the center. I don't know if it is my writing or the plain white background but something doesn't look right to me. Maybe I have been looking at it to long. Thanks to all of the western cakes on this site that gave me some great ideas.

I made this as a practice cake. The inspiration comes from Joannah in the galleries. Her cake is so much better. I made the hat earlier in the week and as you can see, it is too big. Next time I will make the hat smaller or use a bigger pan. I chose navy blue because this is to be donated to the church to go with their Avalanche Ranch theme this week. The navy ended up being to dark, at least in the picture. I did the rope border for the first time, but you can't see it because the icing is so dark.

This cake was done for a customer whose son was into the whole Cowboy thing... This pan had no directions for this so, I designed it on my own... I purchased the lil plastic hat and simply cut in half & placed on him... Thought it turned out pretty well...

I was asked to make a cake for a guy that loves calf roping. Thanks to a little inspiration from another CC member, I switched the style up a little bit and came up wit this. Bottom layer is french vanilla, top is chocolate. Chocolate buttercream with royal icing cowboys and calf. I was so excited that my transfer came off in one piece. I was so scared that it would break that I made an extra just in case. Now I have an extra!!! Anyhow, thanks for looking!!!

I had trouble with the fondant (I just can't seem to get the hang of it!) so I had to come up with creative ways to cover up the cracks and seams, hence the star and bandana.

I fixed the cowboys arms....I think he looks a little less freaky now. I went ahead and entered him in the fair. This is a sugar cookie with royal icing. The stars and bandana details are drawn in with a toothpick and americolor gels. ( I don't have food writer pens yet! )

This cake was for a baby shower and the theme was pink and brown cowgirl. She knew she wanted cow spots, a rope, and a pink bandana . . . but let me do what I wanted as far as design. Love those kind of customers!!! Anyway, thanks for looking! Oh yeah, choc cake with buttercream and fondant accents. I picked up a miniature hat used in making homecoming corsages and molded fondant over it for the hat.

This was for a friend who had pony rides at her son's birthday party. I was inspired by so many cakes here, especially cake/figurine pictures uploaded by LisaMS and Eliane. Cream cheese icing. Figures are MMF.
