This cake I worked so hard on. It's covered in MMF and is decorated with royal icing roses and finished off with edible glitter. Can't see the glitter in the picture but it sure is pretty in person! I am quite proud of this one! What do you all think!!

I should probably have put this under the "disaster" forum because when I put the topper on which was heavy crystal, it fell off and hit each tier on the way down. I was able to repair it and thankfully it fell on the back of the cake and it didn't break the topper! It was really stupid of me not to put it on something. I really thought a good glob of buttercream would do it. Live and learn!!

This cake was set up at ceremony time! It was 90*+ today here and we told the coordinator that we had concerns about this being outside, but she said no problem, ceremony then cake cutting photos by the Bride and Groom. Cake held up pretty great under the circumstances!

My neice loves the Tiffany blue color. So I iced the cake smooth with icing colored with teal to achieve the Tiffany blue color. For contrast, I decorated the rest of the cake using buttercream to make the cornelli lace.

Her mom bought some of the Tiffany blue and white colored M&M's to set out with the cake.....they were a perfect match. Couldn't have matched the color better if I would have had the M&M's with me the day I made it.

These cakes were ordered by a bride in Chicago for a destination wedding here in San Antonio. She provided hand drawings and images of a cameo necklace and her wedding gown that she wanted the cakes to be patterned from. These cakes have a total of 1,061 dragees with each placed using tweezers and glued on with piping gel. This was my first attempt at Cornelli Lace.

This cake was made for someone who works at the Naval Hospital. The photo is a Glamour Shots photo of her in a Naval Officer's uniform! A bit tacky in my opinion for the cake but that's what was wanted on the cake!

I couldn't wait for my class to start! I'm taking Wilton I in a week, but after getting the course book and materials, I got so excited I decided to try one! My in-laws 40th anniv. was in a few days, so I made them this cake. The topper is original from their wedding cake. This was my first ever layered & decorated cake. After looking at lots of articles and forums on this website, I took the plunge. Now I really can't wait for my class to start!

My granddaughters got home from camp today so we had a welcome home party tonight and of course, we had to have a cake. Good excuse to make a cake!

This wedding cake was for a large non-traditional wedding. I struggled with this cake for weeks-as some of you in the forums know. The cakes were strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla all with buttercream decorations. The bride chose blue, orange, and yellow because they were her colors.

Hey all! Just finished my first wedding cake this past weekend. The bride loves pink and wanted pink on her cake. I sketched out my vision and she went with it. This was the result. I added the flowers and ribbon for the pix, but she ended up leaving them on. I'm glad to have it behind me - I was a nervous wreck!

This is a 12" round French vanilla cake, no filling. The birthday girl requested pale pink icing with brighter pink, purple, and turquoise (turned out more teal!). The drop flowers are made from buttercream - up until now I have only made them with royal icing...these turned out great!). Pink on pink cornelli lace with cake sparkles.

Orange cake with all BC. I used leftover BC just to practice and see what I could come up with. My FIRST time with Cornelli Lace. My rosettes are getting better. Please excuse the Scooby Do and Elmo cupcake wrappers...these are just for practice!

I have always been intrigued with cornelli and thought I would try it out...along with other things (such as roses which I cannot seem to master to save my life!) This cake turned out better than I thought it would. I consider it "cute" maybe? Anyway...I had fun with it. It was before any Wilton classes so I was just guessing on all the different techniques.

This is the TOP VIEW of the Chocolate Snickerdoodle Cake with Chocolate Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting from the Chocolate Cake Mix Doctor. My friend requested it for her birthday tomorrow. I wanted it to look fancy, but I'm still REALLY new at cake decorating. I'm not sure of how the cream cheese frosting will hold up. Also, it's my very FIRST try at shells...they're harder than they look!

I had high hopes for this practice cake. I was practice ganache, torting, and cornelli. What I got was oozing, bulging, icing sliding off the sides, and one part actually falling out of the side of the cake. I never had a problem with cakes before I took them up as a hobby.

I finally tried the gelatin flowers that I saw posted in a forum here. They were so easy and they are a fresh change from typical flowers. Unfortunately, they're not edible (they're formed on floral wire) but I'm getting over my "everything on the cake must be edible" issues.

My Wilton instructor gave us free reign with the design of our final cake, providing we did it stacked or tiered. I used this chance to try gelatin flowers. I felt like I needed to do something on this cake that we learned in the course so I made the leaves in cornelli lace. I need to work on smooting my icing and will have to stack / tier a few more cakes before it feels natural but this was fun!

This is my "pretty in pink" cake. I love the way cornelli lace looks but it was killing my hand! So that's why it's a little messy.

This was a cake of firsts. First time working with MMF, first time covering a round with fondant, first time with cornelli lace, and first time using the enhanced cake mix formula. I love the texture of the cake mix formula. The cake is much easier to work with.
