3 inch base, 2 inch center, 1 inch top
I tried to ice these in buttercream and failed miserably and then moved to fondant. Even the fondant was fiddly and it wrinkled and well it was
not good at all. The cake was a mess, i just took the picture from the best angle that i could find to hide all the horrible bits.
The piping is done in buttercream, the roses are royal icing, the base is fondant.

Poured ganache didn't work well so I needed to hide my mistakes so I added the cornelli lace which I think worked really well. This is for a teenage boy that wanted all chocolate.

This is a dummy cake. I just wanted to do something fun with cornelli since I didn't get to practice it much in class last time. I just love the white on green, it's such a nice color combo. I think this cake will work for birthday, mother's day, anniversary or a bridal shower cake.

I've never done a 3-tier whimsical cake so I thought I'd give it a shot. The camera angle makes the cake look like it's about to plummet, but it was stable. : )

tThis is the last cake I did for wilton class course 1, class #4. We learned the rose. I was scared of the roses. (LOL) I chose to do mine all in shades of purple, with a ruffle bottom border, and cornelli lace on the sides. (this is also my first attempt at doing cornelli lace) Cornelli lace can cover a multitude of smoothing issues. I made all of the roses in class, the middle rose is the last rose that I made.It is by far the best. The rest aren't bad (imho), but I still need a lot of practice

I guess men never change lol! I got the phrase on the cake from another cake I saw on cake central! THANK YOU! It is a fudge swirl cookies and cream filling, bc icing with red colored coconut as the cups of the bra and border. This is my first "naughty cake".

Well this cake was interested, i have never had so many problems with a cake before. My icing wouldn't crust, i had air pockets UNDER my icing, and my round cake squished the bottom layer on one side over nigh (it was perfect when i decorated it in class) But since it was a practice cake I tried a lot of things that i hadn't had a chance to do before. And I would like to say I envy all of you who have the patience to do fondant roses. They wore me out!

This cake was a NIGHTMARE to decorate. The frosting was made of whipped topping and it was 100 degrees outside. By the time the cake made it to the reception 45 minutes away, it was developing major cracks in the sides through the icing. The bride wanted a stacked cake, but it was impossible due to the icing. I used hidden pillars to let the cake sit about 1/4 of an inch above the next one.

I have a couple of friends celebrating their anniversary today, so I wanted to make them a cake similar to (but not quite) a wedding cake. When they got married 3 years ago, they hated their cake! (Not made by me) She loves purple and daisies, so I wanted to incorporate the 2 without overdoing it. Feeback would be great!

OK, this is a practice cake I made. I wanted to practice stacking cakes, making bows, and making cornelli lace. I learned a lot including what to do better next time. Everything is mmf, royal lace. Any advice would be appreciated.

This is a two tier marble cake. The first tier is an 8" round and the second tier is a 6" round. The cake is frosted with cali4dawn's buttercream frosting and filled with white chocolate pudding. The top tier is decorated with cornelli lace (tip 2) and the second tier is just random dots with round tips 3 and 5. I am not very proud of my cornelli lace...I was doing it last minute on an empty stomach so my hand was not very steady as it could have been.

This is the first doll cake I have ever made. It was actually sort of a joke for a girl graduating from high school. It is chocolate with a white 8" layer underneath, BC filling. It is iced in BC.

This is a vanilla bean pound cake with IMBC I did for practice. Unfortunately, I had real trouble with the roses. I don't know if my frosting was too warm and soft, or if it was all my technique. I guess it gives me an excuse to decorate more! I was ok with the cornelli lace, first time I've tried it.

I made this for my sister's bridal shower. Still need a lot of practice with fondant. Can't seem to get that "crisp" look that so many here have. Had a lot of air bubbles and wasn't as level as I would have hoped but, overall I was pleased. My sister loved it. My second attempt at cornelli lace. 12", 10", and 8", each layer torted 2x's. From top to bottom: banana cake with strawberry filling, chocolate cake with strawberry filling, vanilla cake with buttercream filling.
