A simple anniversary cake for my dh and I. I'm just starting out so I was looking for a simple design(thanks Tina_Mace for the inspiration). The cornelli lace is far from perfect and I learned a lot by doing so much of it. The sides were tricky. Overall I'm very happy with how this turned out. It's chocolate cake with kahlua cream filling and choc and regular buttercream icing.) Thanks for looking!

THANKS to all at CC who helped and inspired me to do this for my sister!! 16, 12, 8 and 5" cakes. Bottom tier was white with strawberry cream filling, others were chocolate with whipped ganache filling. Buttercream frosting smoothed with Melvira method, fondant details and pearls with pearl dust, gumpaste roses and forget-me-nots. Fashioned after our dresses. Not as perfect as I'd like, but I was Matron of Honor with many other tasks- and my sister loved it. Yay!

I had a 10 inch cake iced and ready to cover with fondant for class, then found out class was cancelled. I hadn't taken the time to do the final smoothing so ignore the wrinkles. Instead of letting it go to waste I thought I would practice some different techniques. My first time trying cornelli lace and freehand scrolls. I'd love some constructive criticism on my technique! It's just practice, I only spent a half hour on it, so you won't hurt my feelings! lol

White cake with buttercream icing. I originally didn't plan to put roses on the top but somehow the corner accidentally got squashed. It actually looks better with the roses than it did without them.

I used cornelli lace & beading for the border - also beading around the couples' names on the top of the cake. Afterwards my husband commented that the color scheme resembled a football, so next time I'll use different colors.

This was a cake I did for practice and ended up entering in a fair. The "cake" is stryo dummies covered in fondant with BTC cornelli (sp) lace and shell borders. Roses and leaves are all RI.
Thanks to Whyteicing for all the help and inspiration!

Oval sheetcake with vanilla and chocolate buttercream. chocolate fudge cake. Edible image of H. Montana. Clear cake glitter sprinkled on the cornelli lace, which I use to camoflage the image edges as well as my less than perfect smoothing job (overrated, overrated....)!!!!!

I made this cake for my MIL's birthday. It's WASC made with white chocolate raspberry creamer in both the cake and buttercream [used decorator's buttercream] and filled with raspberry cream filling. It's an 8" round and it was my first time trying out the cornelli lace. Didn't get it right but she loved it and it was still pretty for her!

I tried to make this cake look like a princess dress. The characters are chocolate transfers and the tiara is royal icing made from the instructions on carrielynnfields tutorial (thanks so much Carrie for the wonderful tutorial!) My daughter insisted the tiara must be painted gold with blue jewels. I think she was right!

First time fondant cake and first time stacked cake for me! A few flaws but I am pleased with it....took only 7 hours to do, not including the roses I made earlier in the week! The roses are the "hershey kiss" roses. The bride is adding her own topper.

Here's the slab to go with my second ever wedding cake. The couple wanted enough cake to serve everyone a more generous piece so this should do it! Hershey kiss roses. Fondant.

Cornelli lace (sort of - kind of tight and squiggly - but I wanted it that way). Buttercream piping for Genevieve. I used edible markers for her face. I am not quite sure why, but this is not my most favorite cake that I have ever made, although I do like the way it turned out. The 12 Dancing Princesses theme is just a really tough theme to work with.

French vanilla cake w/ buttercream icing. This did not come out like I pictured it in my head, but it was okay. I think it needed more flowers and maybe bigger center.

Instead of white cornelli lace (punto perdido), I decided to have it the same shade of orange as the roses. I used tip 3.

All tiers have one layer white, one layer chocolate, strawberry filling, fondant. 2-18" "satellite" cakes, 10" and 6", 1" band of cornelli lace bordered by dots around middle of tiers, Gerbera daisies are real. Photograph is a professional one; the one I took didn't show the details

Half sheet cake, white and chocolate, buttercream icing. For a friends Aunts birthday. Cake is ivory in color, with red, deep purple and yellow roses. Isn't really true to color in the picture but I finished it in the evening and once it's dark out I can forget about getting a good true picture with my camera! One of these days I'll buy a new one!!
