This cake represented her birthday gift and trip to Lego Land. Computer screen is styrofoam; I glued two wooden dowels at the bottom to insert into the cake and glued with extra icing. Fondant keypad (can you say labor intensive!). Used other half of 1/4 sheet to make the large Lego cakes with cupcake bottom for tops. Problems: icing bubbled on the styrofoam; tips?
Little girl loved it and the matching Lego cupcakes to go with it.

I made this cake for my son when he turned 18. I had not taken any classes and just went and got a tip and tried it. He and his friends loved it or were kind enough to say they liked it.

A lady wanted me to make icarly cake for her daughters bday. The only think I could come up with was to make the computer they have on the show. She wanted two different flavors too so the inside of the computer in choc chip and the outside is chocolate. The ring around is just fondant. I painted silver on the computer to make it shiny. The web page is just a page I found on the internet and I photoshopped in Happy Birthday and the little girls name so it looked like that was on the website.

This was made for a boy who loves to play with Funkeys (computer driven characters, toys). 12-inch square, French vanilla with Michele's fondant. The laptop is RKT. My first attempt at several new things here; RKT, covering a square cake, making tie-dye fondant, molding and painting characters. Shew!

Here is my 2nd attempt at a fondant and buttercream cake for my friend's daughter. She wanted I Carly so this is what I came up with. The only part I wish I did different was to cover the whole monitor screen with fondant instead of 1/2 and 1/2 to get rid of the wrinkles. Live and learn :)

Three grads, 1 cake. Saw this design on several CC'ers pages, it was a perfect design for this cake. I incorporated sports cars and a laptop for each of their interests. Hat is Chocolate w. 2009 in fondant & edible glitter covered numbers, molded in ball mold and All BC except the GP cars & computer. Not too happy with it , I hate squares, but just keep on with the practice :) It was a nighmare cake and was falling apart when I stacked the 2 16 in squares!!! It was trimmed to about 14 in to "fix it.

A graduation cake for my friend's son. He wanted his school logo, his future college logo (Purdue) and something about computers. While the humidity played havoc with my smoothing of my buttercream, I was pretty pleased with the results. And most importantly, so was the graduate!

I made this cake for my husband's birthday. The bottom is a plain white sheet cake. I took the easy way out and used a couple loaves of pound cake to make the monitor, keyboard and mouse. The letters are the candy letters they sell at the market.

Had a hard time with this one at first. Then the ride to the country club was extremely bumpy and rough. But the graduate, mom and all the guests loved it.

This is a cake for a Mac fan, who was turning nine. Its an 8-inch scratch chocolate cake, torted and filled with Belgian chocolate buttercream over lillypilly jam. The cake was cold-ganached with Belgian dark/milk mixture, smoothed and covered with thin fondant in the original Apple colours. The board is covered in a 'dot matrix' style computer print saying Happy Birthday. Thank you for looking!

For my dear BIL. His dog and his laptop are his two dearest companions in life. Maybe his wife ranks in there somewhere. All fondant and a laminated picture for the screen. I think the carved keyboard turned out great. I didn't bother to letter it because I thought that was overkill. Nice and simple. Mouse hides a rather terrifying hole that developed in the fondant. Let's hear it for covering stuff up! (Realized later cord is attached to wrong end of mouse!) Oh well, no one else noticed.
