My God daughter's birthday cake for her circus theme party. The animals are toys and I used ribbon to create circus collars for them. It's a 10 inch and 8 inch fondant-covered stacked cake. The acrobat on top was actually an ornament, and I made a birthday sign for her to hold. Thank you for all the inspiration and great circus cakes in the gallery!

My granddaughter's mom was putting together a circus theme birthday. I made some changes for size, changed a border and added some different decorations, but it's basically still the Wilton Circus cake. It's the first time I tried something like this. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out and so was the birthday girl.

One of two last minutes "Thank you" cakes I made for the cast/crew of an event I attended. Thanks to the many CCers in the gallery for inspiration! I had grandiose ideas about how to finish this cake, but simply ran out of time. It's a 10" & 8" yellow with lemon filling, BC, fondant diamonds/flag, and sugar pearls. The "tent posts" are popsicle sticks connect my ribbon.

just playing around with different techniques and decided to make a small circus cake. Gumpast/fondant figures, fondant accents, buttercream icing. Rainbow colored WASC cake. I would do a few things differently next time, but it was good practice and quite fun to do!

I got the Wilton giant cupcake pan and decided to play around. Now I know that I can fill the pans with more batter to make a bigger cake. Small, but fun... I like this little cake. Everything is buttercream

This was my first decorated cake. It was for my sons 1st Birthday in 2008. I used a Duncan Hines Devil's Food Cake mix which turned out very nice and used a buttercream icing recipe from www.whatscookingamerica.com to fill and ice the cake. The animals I got were from Wilton and the clown was a made from decorators icing and the clown head was also from Wilton.

These were for a carnival-themed birthday party for my friend's two little boys. All buttercream with a few fondant accents and skittles. I wish I had made more stripes on the circus tent, but oh well. The carousel bottom was two 12" rounds, the top was carved from a soccer ball pan and put on top of a 10" round. The middle was two 6" rounds carved into octogons. I painted the Wilton carousel horses into less "girly" colors. These were a lot of fun to do, especially the carousel!

My daughters birthday is next month and this was a test cake I made. I've never covered a cake with fondant or worked with gumpaste before now. I had a lot of fun, but will make some minor changes to the actual birthday cake.

This is my first time covering a cake with fondant or making a gumpaste figure. It was fun but i made some mistakes. I have some tweaking to do to the final product and thankfully this was just a test cake for my daughters birthday.

This is view of the ferris wheel I made. The wheel is out of Rice Krispies and the construction holding it is made out of Kinex. I was excited when we got it to spin around to give it a special effect. LOL! I usually make ALL edible cakes, but was pressed for time so I added details with circus decors I found. This was for my daughter's 5th birthday carnival party that included games with prizes, full concession stand including popcorn, cotton candy, corn dogs and MORE... We even had clowns and animal balloons. It was a great day and well worth the work!!!

Done for a friend's children's birthday party to match the other popcorn cake I made. These were the kids' individual cakes. Vanilla cake, raspberry filling, dec. cream cheese frosting. All red accents are fondant. "Popcorn" is made of mini marshmallows. Took inspiration from many CC'ers, thank you!!

JoJo the clown circus theme. Jojo was made from gumpaste, other figures are plastic to save on cost. Covered in BC and fondant accents. Client saw a cake on CC and wanted one similiar. Not sure who gets credit for this design.

I was asked to make this circus tent for a little boy turning two. The cake was(including it's supports) 33 inches tall! It was a monster of a cake. Bottom was Chocolate dipped Strawberry (Macsmom recipe) and the middle was Tropical Breeze (Macsmom recipe) and the top was Rainbowlicious (again Macsmom recipe). Cake is covered in fondant strips and all the animals were made of fondant as well. The cake was a hit at the party. I was able to add lights inside of the tent and once it started to get dark the tent was lit up.

I made this for my little girl's friend. She has been in the hospital for a month and got out 2 days before her birthday (which also happened to be 1 day before my kids birthday party) so we offered to share our carnival party with her and I made her a chocolate cake as requested. She ended up getting a nasty stomach virus when she got home and didn't make it so we delivered it to her. Please keep her in your prayers.

2nd cake made in my classes. Not to fond of the plastic clown head, but know since I know how to make them all out of icing I might like them better. I was not done. I was gonna finish with the rest of the colored stripes on the side but ran out of time.

Mom wanted a bright circus cake for her daughter's first birthday! French vanilla cake with raspberry cream filling. Iced in buttercream with fondant pearls. The circus acts are all made of fondant/gumpaste mixture. Smash cake is chocolate with buttercream icing. It was fun to make the circus acts! I had a ring of fire for the lion, but it didn't look right on so I decided to leave it off, but it would've been cool if it worked! TFL
