The cake is chocolate buttercream and lattice work. The roses are also buttercream. I love doing lattice work. It's so easy, but people think it's a lot of hard work.

I made this for my parents' annivesary. It is a death by chocolate cake, (similar to the chocolate explosion cake), filled with chocolate mousse, and iced in ganache. Writing and borders are whipped ganache and BC roses.

Yellow cake with Chocolate icing. I made this last summer for my best friend's stepdaughter. I was learning to do stringwork in Wilton's class. I really loved the way these roses came out. I made them 2-tone with light and dk pink buttercream. I was especially proud of the little roses around the bottom.

Chocolate cake with coconut filling covered in chocolate ganache. The corners and tag are white chocolate and the bow is fondant. It was ordered in the last minute (a lot less than 24hrs), so it didn't come out the way I planned, but it looked cute (with a lot of room for improvement!). It was for my sister-in-law, so it was OK!

Whipped this up for my sweetheart. It's a 2 layer, heart-shaped chocolate-orange truffle cake filled with orange marmalade. Crushed walnuts on the sides. Happy Valentine's Day!

2nd attempt at a chocolate teddy bear. Not sure if I like the rough look in the photo, I like it better in person. Strawberry chocolate cake truffle (cake balls) covered in chocolate. Wings, arrow, bow, and roses are chocolate. I love how the wings turned out. I didn't use any fondant. This was for my DH so I wanted everything delicious.

Chocolate cake with Buttercream icing. Royal on the towers. Chocolate candies as borders and doors. Thought I had the towers straight, until I photographed it! Angle is everything where ice cream cones are concerned!!! It was a fun "first castle". :-)

This was my first go at a cake fully covered in Ganache. It is a chocolate chip pound cake out of the WBH book covered in Ganache - I used Milk Chocolate because that is all I had and got raves on it!

This is a cake I was asked to make for a man that works in the building industry.
It is chocolate mud cake, with poured chocolate icing and white chocolate between the bricks. The trowel is made of gumpaste and placed in a gumpaste tray with royal icing in it. Thank you very much to the people that helped me with the trowel, your suggestions were fantastic!!! Thanks for looking, Mel

Picnic Chocolate Cake, Chocolate BC, single layer, gumpaste rose....literally a throw-together for my niece's birthday! Used what I had on hand...which should remind me how important a stash of flowers is! LOL She loves K-State...thus the plate that doesn't match the cake!!!

This is frosted with buttercream. The white chocolate "lacey" pieces were freehanded and painted with luster dust. I got the idea from another cake on this site and had to try it. Of course, I think their's is much better! But I had fun making it!

last wedding cake order I took before taking a break to get married myself! this was for my future mother in law's second marriage. Chocolate fondant on the outside, decorated with various chocolate truffles, inside was chocolate cake with buttercream filling. There wasn't a crumb left!

These are three cakes that I kind of threw together on Monday night so I would have something to bring to work on Valentines Day. The far pink one I had a little trouble with - I beat the icing on too high a speed - it was a new recipe and I learned quickly that slow is the key!

This cake is modeled after a lot of other groom's cakes that I've seen and loved (thanks to all of you who have made one like this - you were my inspiration). The bride only specified that she wanted it to have the Harley logo on it and that it be chocolate. She initially was thinking a sheet cake, but really didn't care how I designed it. I'm happy with how this turned out. The reception was held at our local Harley Dealership (in their banquet facilities).

I made this cake as a christmas present for a friend. It is a chocolate cake filled and covered in chocolate mousse. There are blown sugar ornaments which are hand painted and some royal icing ornaments that I piped. The ribbons are gumpaste and then painted with a luster dust paint. The swags are fondant, embossed, and then i painted the color on the embossed flowers.

12" sqaure & 8" round. Both double layer, almond flavored white cake with fresh strawberry filling and almond BC icing and chocolate covered strawberries. The Methodis cross & flame done in the chocolate transfer method that Squirrelly posted. LOVED IT & SO EASY! Had to deliver the cake 50 miles away. Top cake shifted on the drive over. Thank goodness I was able to use the Choco Strawberries to hide it. This was probably the most perfect/even cake I did until the drive over. <sigh>

Chocolate layer cake (from this site - YUM!), chocolate buttercream, bc piping, and mmf ribbon roses (love these flowers!). This cake was for my best friend's birthday. Had issues with it, however, I originally used chocolate syrup frosting and cookies and cream pudding filling but I had major overflow of the pudding, even tho' I did a damn with the frosting. I assume the chocolate syrup frosting is not stiff enough; I had to take the cake apart and put it back together with chocolate bc! Still learning!

First try at doing this one. Learned a few things. The chocolate triangles were a little too thick and sank into the icing. My mom took it to work and said no one wanted to be the first one to cut into it. Chocolate...I would have been first in line!
