Thanks to the creator of the "Ladybird" cake for the inspiration! Mom wanted a spin on Miss Spider's Sunnypatch, so this is what I came up with. All covered in MMF and all pieces made fro MMF as well. Antenae had wire inside and legs obviously not edible, but everything else is.TFL!

This was a cake to go along with an invitation for a 3-year old girl. The invitation was brown with lavender, pink and red butterflies with white dots. Yellow cake with chocolate buttercream icing. Royal icing flowers, gumpaste animals, accents and lettering.

The main cake is a vanilla 8 inch cake covered in vanilla butter cream, the Baby Einstein picture was taken from the birthday boy's bib and is a frozen butter cream transfer. The mom wanted an egg free cake, originally, but we came up with this design so that all the cupcakes are egg free for the children, and the cake has eggs in it for the grown ups!

I really enjoyed making this one! Caterpillar was made with mini wonder mold pan. Bugs are chocolate - used the templates from the book "Hello, Cupcake!" by Alan Richardson and Karen Tack (which is the best cupcake book EVER!). Antennae are toothpicks with MMF balls, leaves are MMF, everything else is BC. Thanks for looking.

This was a groom's cake I did. The groom works for CAT and is anti John Deere. The bride asked for a CAT bulldozer chasing down a "deer" - I put a green and yellow cap on it to drive the point home. Red Velvet Cake filled and crumb-coated with cream cheese frosting. Decorated in buttercream with fondant accents. Deer made of fondant.

We got another celebrity order at the bakery! This time for Jeff Daniels' wife. This is our third celebrity order. And we're a small town bakery, too. It's basically the same basket I did for Drew Barrymore, but this one has a snail and caterpillars in it. Maybe one day I'll actually get to MEET the celebrity!

This cupcake cake was for my DD 3rd Birthday. She loves bugs...cute ones, not real ones. The cupcakes were red velvet and WASC. Big hit with my family. They were iced and 'grassed' with buttercream. All bugs and the toadstools were mmf. The 'little Gracie' in the garden is a Barbie. TFL!!

This was so fun to make! Carson's mom sent me a drawing (she's a graphic artist) of the design she was after and I re-created it in cake. The caterpillar is RKTs and the leaf was cut from a 14" square pan. The dots and stripes coordinated with the plates and napkins.

Cute idea...different for a groom's cake though! This is pretty much what she asked for, hope she likes it. Edible imaging made this alot easier.

I baked each section in a bowl, and stacked two of the half circles to make the head of the caterpillar stand out a little (Because he's just so cute!). The antenna's are lollipop's dipped in melted chocolate, and the feet and tail are cupcakes that I trimmed to fit.

Ah, inspired by so many cakers on this site and their wonderful cakes, thank you! For a 6 year old birthday party. IMBC frosted although the mushroom is covered in fondant. Fondant bugs, the bees are suspended on spaghetti. Oreo crumbs at the base. Gumpaste flowers, stems, leaves...The base cake is chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and raspberry filling, the middle (purple) tier is a rainbowlicious cake. I loved doing this cake, it was so much fun!

Thanks to andrealynmoore for her cute caterpillar made from a bunt pan.. My friend wanted a woolly worm cake for her Dad. They were going to be celebrating his birthday at the Woolly Worm Festival in Banner Elk NC. She told me this morning that when they took the cake into the restaurant they were mobbed. Her Dad and the family were interviewed for the Banner Elk newspaper, Her Dad was on cloud nine with all the attention.

My son's 2nd grade class call themselves the "Collier Caterpillars." At their Christmas party this week I presented them with a caterpillar cake that was quickly dubbed the Santapillar. There were a total of 25 "segements" with a name, each complete with it's own set of elf shoes. The head was a styrofoam covered in gumpaste. Shoes, hat, hands, Christmas tree and gifts were also gumpaste. The cakes were chocolate fudge cake, chocolate butter cream frosting and marshmallow fondant.
