I just love doing this cake for 1 and 2 year olds. I baked a rectangle cake and then cut out the shape. I then covered the cake in butter icing. I either pipe or spread the icing over the cake. The nose and eyes are winegums and the whiskers liquorice. The bow is made from modelling paste.

my first attempt at a "whimsy" cake and boy was it a challenge! It was for a baby shower and the mom is obsessed with Seuss (baby's nursery is amazing!) It was fun to make. Iced in BC with fondant accents, and some laminated pieces from a board game my son had; the top hat is RKT covered in fondant. Thanks to andisc for her help!

I made this for my Nefews birthday. I think it turned out pretty nice.. It is buttercream wit fondant/gumpaste accents. Barn and silo are ricecrispies covered w/fondant. The corn field and cattails are made from Royal Icing. It took a lot of time, but it was worth it! Cant wait to see the kids' faces tomorrow!! :D

A debutante had an usual party. So here is what we came up with. The cat is orange creamsicle cake, the mushroom cap is the cake part (choc.), the base was a foam pedestal, The hat is vanilla princess with bc and fresh strawberry filling. All covered in fondant. I hope it survives, the humidity is wicked today, and its on an outside deck! But it looks cool right now!

This was my first attempt at Fondant....good grief. My daughter had a school contest last year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dr. Suess's incredible books. So this is what we came up with, We won a $5.00 certificate to Teacher's Delight for the cake. Didn't cover the cost of the material, but it made her thrilled to say the least! And for my first attempt and the top hat collapse the previous night and restructure, I think it's not so bad. LOL

While in Italy I had tea at famous Babinton Tea Room (at the foot of the Spainish steps) after meeting the owner he learned I made cakes in Canada. He asked if I could make a dummy for his display window. All I had to go on was a business card ( http://www.babingtons.com)

A gentleman asked for a 50th birthday cake for his wife. He didn't know what to put on it so I asked what some of her fav. things were and he said cats. This is what I came up with. I got the picture idea from a free coloring pages website. It would have looked better but when I picked up the cake to put it in the box the icing cracked a little. The cake is yellow with almond bc icing and choc. icing outlines and words. Thanks for looking!

Cake requested by customer to match nursery theme... I used a picture she sent me as a model for the characters which explains the colors and etc... (There are probably cuter ones online but this is the style of characters they wanted). I drew the characters on with food marker on the bottom... cut the top figures out of fondant and used painting/food marker to decorate. The stars on top are painted silver and then decorated in disco dust.
