bottom tier is 10" square choc fudge cake w/ oreo SMBC filling & WBH icing - second tier is yellow cake w/ bavarian sream flavoured SMBC filling & WBH icing. Lots of fun making this one. The little princess (my dh thinks it looks more like a troll) was done with the mini bear pan and was the smash cake for my dd.

Ice cream cones for the tops. Fondant horse laying down in grass on cake (thanks to imartsy for inspiration). It was a hit!

This cake was inspired by someone with the Screen name 'Eight' who had a beautiful version in pink and yellow. A lot of things went wrong with this cake. First....I forgot to put contact paper so it's stained (which my SIL didn't mind)..second...my 3 yr.old smooshed the door knob...cracked the front towers (I turned one around) and broke the baby blanket..which I made a new one...and poked it with something cause you can see little marks here and there. Despite all that it was a big hit...thank goodness!

Well, this is one of the cake ideas in the 2007 Wilton Yearbook. I modified it a bit. Instead of making the castle out of candy, I ended up covering a board in fondant. I tried the candy 3 times and everytime I unmolded it, it broke. The birthday girl was ecstatic.

My first kinda sculpted cake. I felt okay about it, it gave me a lot of ideas for next time. The four princesses went on all sides of the cake. I used the Pastry Pride icing. I liked to flavor, but it can be a little tricky to work with. I did make the roses out of Pastry Pride, but I think I will use BC next time.

This is a cake I helped a student make. I supervised and gave ideas. This cake was inspired, mostly, by one done by "tamreese" on this site. Looked at many beautiful castles on this site. I would love to make one of each. The princesses, of course, are plastic but the little girl they were for loved having them to keep.

My first castle, and it was A LOT of work. The little girl that it was for loves purple and wanted purple cake, meaning that I had to dye the actual cake. So it was white cake dyed purple, with BC and MMF accents. The whole castle is not assembled in the pic, because it wouldn't travel well, and I wasn't able to get a set up pic. You get the idea though. Thanks for looking! Oh, by the way, this was inspired by many other castle cakes on here.

This is my first castle cake & stacked cake!! I had quite a bit of trouble with the BC crusting for the impression mat, but it evenually turned out ok. Sorry the castle edges look kinda funny, I changed/colored the background on my computer, b/c of all the people behind it! Thank you so much mconrey for your great instructions, idea, and help! Thanks also to all who helped me with my first raspberry filling and pricing issues! I can't wait to do this cake again! =)

Castle cake for a friend's granddaughter's birthday. 8" double layer on bottom, 6" round double layer on top. Iced in buttercream. Towers are regular ice cream cones with an upside down sugar cone on top. Put lollipop sticks through cones to help keep them in place..... would do something different next time, it's still top heavy and wobbly. Suggestions? Banner is made from a sheet of colored foam with foam marker writing.

My neice is crazy about Disney princesses so I decided to make her a castle cake for her 4th birthday. Her mom's reaction was as priceless as hers! I used two 10"squares, one 9" oval and used a cutter to make circles which I stacked for the towers. The tower roofs are sugar cones coated in buttercream icing. The letters are sugarpaste hearts which I just painted on using food paste and a little icing gel

I would like to thank Pam_Hackett and all the cc members for all the great inspiration. I would like to give credit to my friend Michelle for coming over so early and helping me complete this cake, I had to spend 8 hours in emergency with my daughter during the time I had alloted to do this cake (she is ok in case you are wondering). Because of limited time, I couldn't get as creative as I'd wanted and getting it there was a nightmare. The turrets fell over, one of the roofs, etc, etc. tfl!

A sincere wish for a lady that was retiring. She was thrilled to have her own dream castle. Carrot cake with cream cheese icing ~ way too soft to decorate with...it took me forever!

This cake is for my neighbor's daughter who's turning 3 today. This came together really a lot quicker than I thought it would. The cake is white with strawberry filling. Iced in BC and the turrets are rolled cardstock covered with fondant. Door is tootsie roll and flowers are royal. Cobblestone effect on castle is made with #12 tip, smooshed down after crusting. Really fun to make!

I made this castle for my daughters 6th birthday party. It's made out of fondant with royal icing flowers. A big thank you to all the great cakes here on CC that gave me all my ideas. I don't know what I'd do without this site.

Nordicware Castle atop a 12-inch square. The rocks are peanut M&Ms and the dragon, unicorn and frog prince are candy melts poured into a clay push mold. I glued the princess candle to a foam block (covered in pink wrapping paper) to give it enough height to rise above the cake.

My first castle cake. A friends god daughter was celebrating her 5th birthday. 4 days before the party he emailed and aaked if I would want to do a cake. Little did he know what he was going to get! Cake is a 12" and a 8" round with turrets made out of icecream cones. All covered with mmf. Cinderella is the only non-edible part. Couldn't have done it without inspiration from all of the beautiful cakes on here!

I really have to start charging more for these - they take so long to make! It was all chocolate cake (12X18" cut in half and stacked & a 8" round) iced in buttercream and then covered in MMF. It had rice krispie treat & sugar cone towers, piping gel water and fondant/gumpaste accents. The girl's bday party was at a Kidz Zone and the employees said it was the best cake they had ever seen come through there! :0)

Whew! Sure am glad this is done. This was my first attempt at a castle cake and there were so many things I will do different next time. Such as not adding the turets(sp?) until after I arrive. They all starting toppling over in the car. But luckily I had brought extra icing with tips with me. Good thing is, my daughter loved it.

This cake was for my Daughter's 1st B-Day, and also the first cake that I have ever decorated. Definately some things I would have changed, but everyone at the party loved it.
