The 10 and 6 tiers are iced in buttercream. All decorations are fondant. Flowers are an attempt at carnations along w/a few calla lilies:) This could easily be used for many occasions including birthday, shower or small wedding.

This cake dummy is from my Wilton Fondant and Gumpaste class. We dusted the carnations with luster dust on the edges of the petals, but I think they looked better white. I like the heart shaped border and will probably make that for another cake.

These things gave my heck..... but I am satisfied with the outcome since i didnt use a carnation cutter i used a garret frill cutter and forgot to take the large center off....and pulled the center out before I began to work on the flower....(duh)....

Made a bouquet at local store where I learned how to make gumpaste flowers. Been a long time to do that, but better late than never.

Has lilies, hydrangeas, orchids, daisies, carnations.

Sour cream yellow cake with chocolate pudding filling and butter based almond buttercream decorations. This was my first attempt at a basket weave - printed the instructions from the Wilton site. I watched an instructional video on the CIA website on how to make the begonia and carnation flowers.

12/8/6 inch all buttercream cake.
This is the smoothest I've ever gotten my buttercream, so I was pretty happy. It was a 6hr drive, so the bottom layer got a little messed up, but all in all I was very pleased. My first gumpaste flowers, too. Orange was the wedding color, her favorite!

Made for my own birthday. Chocolate cake, marshmallow filling, covered with MMF. I wanted to do/decorate with something else, but ran out of time and had to use leftover carnations. It tasted amazing though! First time with MMF, will be using it again!

Almond pound cake with almond buttercream filling. Covered in fondant w/gumpaste accents and floral brown swirly things ;) Bride's colors were all shades of brown/mocha, & ivory, etc. Not sure why, but the leaves look a bit greenish in the photo. Wasn't like that in person, oh well TFL

8*6" cake of alternating spice and carrot cake with cream cheese icing, covered in fondant. I made this for my sampler cake in the Wilton Fondant & Gumpaste class. My sister-in-law will be taking it to work with her, even though the white fondant came out slopy on the bottom. The carnations on the top are gumpaste..my first gumpaste flowers.

6" and 8" stacked and topped with a cake made using the mini doll pan. The flowers and the leaves on the vines(alternate view...I took initial photo and realized I'd forgotten the vines and carnations...so, the alternate photo was taken in the box) were made from royal icing, fondant/gumpaste. Vine stems made using unbreakable gel. Bluebirds, on either side of the "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" banner were piped on with the aid of the pinprick on waxed paper method...I can not draw for the life of me!

So i did this cake for my final course at Michaels. Chocolate banana cake w/ vanilla pudding and chocolate ganache icing. Fondant with fondant flowers. Carnations on top are made out of gumpaste. I realized that chocolate ganache does not go well with fondant, the icing should be by itself.

Here is my final project from the Wilton Fondant and Gumpaste Class. I really like the carnations. I need to tweak what I am doing. I loved this class. I think I am over my "fear" of fondant! TFL.

I'm trying out the CIA's technique on their tutorial for Mother's Day cupcakes. This is a carrot cupcake with cream cheese icing. I should be called the "last minute chef". I did these on a whim for the ladies at my DH's job. TFL

I made this cake for my beautiful mother who loves sunflowers and all things summery. Its a summer table with rolled fondant tablecloth and cute summery touches. The cake itself is a devils food with cocoa buttercream frosting.

This cake was a disaster from the beginning : first I made my own version of fondant, made it by eye - no measurement, and made it too soft. This I discovered when covering the cake, I position wrong, and tried to lift it and reposition, but couldn't so I dragged the fondant over icing. BAD! I should know better. Then I ended up with a lumps... I was planning to make a different cake, so my plan A and B did not work, so plan Z did it :) To cover my not smooth fondant, I decided to do cornelli lace - also my first one. Eventually I think the cake ended up OK, hope my Mother-in law will like it. She is nice lady, I know she will :) The carnation are made from gum paste long time ago. Thanks for watching, Happy Mother's Day!

Really last minute cake, but I still wanted to try something new (I'm crazy like that)! Made a bunch of gumpaste carnations, dipped them in shimmer dusts. First time trying the ruffle border. Didn't love how it came out, especially since they don't look like the pic I was trying to imitate...but the lady loved it! Will have to practice in the future!

This cake was made for the parent/child dedication at our church. The top is a 6" round chocolate cake with Coconut Butter cream filling and icing. The bottom is vanilla cake with strawberry preserve filling and covered in rondant. The two figures are fondant/gumpaste. The slide is actually a pice of plastic hotwheels track covered in fondant. The ladder is fondant. The carnations on the top are gumpaste dusted with edible glitter. The 'stained glass' windows are color flow initials of their godparents.
