For an girls birthday.  As you can see  she wanted candy all over her cake.  Lots of mini candy bars, malted balls and kisses.  The plaque was made with molded letters.;

Three tiered, mmf/candy clay covered, chocolate fidge and butter almond cakes with bc in between. All mmf accents with candy melt letters and candy melt shamrock on top. Several things went awry with this behemoth green thing...it wasn't s'posed to look like this but I'm sure they'll eat it ;-)

Experimenting with candy melts. I made a bunch of these lace pieces ahead of time, brushed with silver sparkle dust, then added to the cake. Really fun to work with the dust, this was my first time with it. I tried to add a light layer of the sparkle to the cake top, but it ended up splotchy. Need to improve the technique on that one! For my mother in law's birthday today.

This cake is all made from MMF. If I were to do it again though I would use regular fondant because for some reason I can't get the MMF to cover corners and things well. The other stuff is more "elasticy" (Dont know if thats a word) It took a LONG time to get this one done. Every piece has to be perfect or it doesn't fit together right and the fondant gets hard on ya. Did find popping it into the microwave right before you attach it to be helpful in bending it better though.

Its 100 cupcakes and i iced them as if it was a cake. The cupcakes were chocolate peanut butter--reeses theme--and filled with buttercream inside like a ding dong. Very good!! FNL stood for Friday Night Live--a youth meeting.

Thanks guys for all of the help!

Thanks for the inspiration Cake Central! Sorry I cannot remember the cake makers name! First time I made my own fondant (MMF). Every cake baker needs to try this! ALOT easier than I thought and it tastes so much better the the pre made stuff I was using! My first time using chocolate candy clay for the egg and rabbit (first egg and rabbit) ALOT of firsts!!!! FUN!!!

I ordered the jewels from Jeffery Kincaellan (Kincaellan@jeff-the-chef.com). Thnx. I experimented by painting the back of the round one with silver sparkle dust and the larger oval I put a flat piece of gumpaste behind it which I first painted with the silver sparkle dust then went over that with the holographic Disco Dust (hard to see in the photo). The larger one has a nicer effect, though I need to experiment a little more - I was trying to make it like a rhinestone with the silver coating on the back.

This was another bouquet I did for the Christian school auction. I was struggling to come up with a "just because" bouquet, so I threw this together at the last minute. It actually got twice as many bids as the sailboat/lighthouse bouquet (in my gallery). I think all the sweet designs made people hungrier....

This is actually a cake for a Sweet Sixteen. It's the idea of mine and the debutant's. The pink crystals are rock candy (home-made) & the cake is done to look like it was cut and jewels are spilling out. The cut pieces on the table were decorated and used as sattllite cakes...

I'm basically a beginner, trying some of the recipes and techiniques I've found on CC. Hopefully, with alot more practice, I'll be able to make my son's wedding cake next year! The icing is buttercream with figures made out of candy clay and MMF fondant.

I hadn't decorated any cakes for probably 20 years and decided I wanted to make my grandson's 2nd birthday cake. He LOVES animals and when I saw this on the cover of the 2006 Wilton book, I knew I had to make it for him. He and his little friends loved the icing and candy animals, but most weren't too interested in the cake. After this, I knew I wanted to do more cakes and cookies.

The client ordered a box of candy from the 50's and wanted a cake that resembled it. this was so much fun researching the candy and creating it.!
The cake is a 9" square chocolate fudge cake with chocolate fudge filling covered with fondant and airbrushed to look like cardboard. The tissue paper is fondant, and the candy is fondant airbrushed base color, and royal icing details.

This is the HARDEST cake I have ever made!! This is the first time working with candy melts (thanks, ladies on the candy forum for all your help and support) and the first time I have worked with royal icing (which wasn't stiff enough!). I was disappointed that my sticks were too long, but the birthday girl LOVED the cake and that's all I can ask for!!

I used 10' rounds to make the lollipop. I frosted with white buttercream and then mixed the pink and green buttercream together in a bag with a 12 tip and created the swirl. Once crusted, I rolled over lightly with a high density foam roller.

I made this cake to celebrate three of my niece's and nephew's birthdays that
fell all in the same month. They really enjoyed this cake. I enjoyed seeing
their faces light up when they found out that was their cake. My husband
said it was my best cake so far. That made it all worth it because I started
late on the cake and had to stay up all night. I iced the cake in buttercream.
I detailed the cake with sprinkles that I put on one at a time and I put gum
drops around the edge of the cake.
