This is a little cake made for a friend. Her daughters first word was "bath" so for her first birthday she had a BATHDAY Party. The cake was Yummy. Banana cake filled with dulce de leche that I caramelized, fresh banana and buttercream( nibbled at a few pieces while I was eating it) Ok..carved the cake into a bath shape( just a slant at one end of a loaf cake) and then covered it. I then made a base of styrofoam that I covered in blue fondant. I then let it set overnight. Turned it over and that bottom now formed the top of the bath. I attached it to the board(covered in tiles of black and white fondant) with support sticks. I then put a layer of buttercream on to seal it and a layer of fondant and then put the "water in"(this was a piece of cast sugar I moulded over crumpled aluminum to give a water effect) I put the body of the baby in the cast sugar while it was setting..careful as the heat of the molten sugar will melt the fondant so wait till the absolute last minute before the sugar starts to harden to put the body in). I then made all the other little bits from fondant...soap, taps, plug, duckie, towel, bath mat. Painted the face and attached the head and arms. Piped on the hair in 2 different colors. I then hand rolled the big bubbles from pulled sugar. I also added the tiny bubbles that were dragees(I could not find white dragees so I washed silver ones..patted them dry and rolled them in cornstarch. I then rolled those in a fine white lustre
 dust. )
Added the letters and...that was it:)

My version of the baby rump cake which has become very popular. 10" round covered in fondant, half of the wilton ball pan for the rump covered in white fondant with ruffle detail, removed a little from the sides of the rump, and sculpted cake for the legs covered in flesh tone fondant (I used Spectrum brown) and added to white fondant, shaped feet from fondant, used gumpaste/fondant for funky letters, trimmed with fondant ruffles and used stitching tool to make it look like it was sewn, also used it with a ruler to add detal to the top of cake. It was so much fun. Served 40

Client couldn't buy the fondant, so I had to do the entire cake in buttercream. Still, LOVED doing it!!!! I painted cheap clay zoo figurines I found at wal-mart so the mommy to be could keep them.

This is my first ever cake! I made it in September 09 for my youngest daughter's Christening. I'd looked all over to find exactly what I wanted but without success and being of a crafty persuassion (I've made cards and invitations for years!) I thought I'd have a go myself. I learned all the techniques through online tutorials and youtube. I thought it was pretty good at the time but I can see loads of problems with it now that I'm a bit more experienced lol. It went down a storm at the Christening and I actually got myself a cake order from it!

It's chocolate mud cake with chocolate buttercream.

This is a Zoo Animals cake we made for a Baby Shower. Everything is edible. Most of the animals are gum paste and a couple are fondant. When we first put on the wafer sticks I didn't like how they looked, but after air brushing them with some pink pearl sheen I ended up loving how they came out.

I was inspired by Fairytale's Hatbox Cake and decided to try my own for a friend's baby shower. Never made a two-tier cake before, never used a lot of the techniques used here and thus, there was a lot of winging it and quiet swearing. In the end, though, I think it turned out ok, got transported ok, and mama-to-be and guests loved it :) Now I just have to figure out how to make my cakes smooth and get my MMF to look flawless... thinking about taking some classes to actually learn proper technique!

Flowers are MMF and GP. Thanks for looking!
