Small wedding 14/10 inches. She wanted a simple black & white design; as usual, I found something to use for a pattern but I'm too lazy to transfer it to the cake, so I freehanded the design in BC. I love brush embroidery so I had to put a little of that in there too. TFL!

Here's my first ever competition cake! It's for the Butler County Fair which starts tomorrow....I'll comment if I win (the prize is 5 whole dollars!). The peacock is gumpaste and a lot of luster dust, flowers are gumpaste and the rest is royal . It's on a dummy, which is why it is so nice and round (which my real cakes never are)!

I've always wanted to try this technique. It was also my first time working with Choco-Pan fondant, which is a little softer and stickier than my usual Satin Ice. I hope it tastes good at least.

Woke up this morning with cake on the brain. I knew I would have to bake or I would be really crabby all day. So I played. Here's the result:
3 layers (strawberry and french vanilla) with banana flavored buttercream.

I made this for a lady's 65th birthday. I really liked it, but there are a few changes I'll make to the next one. Not trilled with the handle....oh well, we are are own worst critics. She asked for pale lavender flowers. The flowers are brush embroidery technique...they took hours. Thanks for looking, all comment welcome.

10 in, 8 in and 6 in cakes. Buttercream icing and MMF flowers. Cute out MMF
flowers and leaves and "painted" them with buttercream brush embroidery.
Love the look of brush embroidery but wanted something that pops out.

This is a cake that I made for a surprise 75th birthday party. I transported it already assembled and the ribbon buckled. :( I'll chalk that up as a lesson learned.
The cake is covered in delphinium blue fondant. The flowers were my first attempt at brush embroidery.

This was a fun cake to do and one of my favorites. It's a very traditional design and from one of the Wilton Books. Layer of Strawberry Cake with NY Style Cheesecake & French Vanilla Mouse filling, White cake w/ Bavarian Creme filling & Raspberry Cake for the hearts. The designs are brush embroidery & edible pearls. The bride was happy so I'm happy - thanks for looking!

I did this for an interview with a owner of a soon to open bakery. Never did these before, and never did the brush embroidery either. I was rushing so didn't have time to make a cake board so decided to use my stainless cake display. Thanks so much for looking!!!!

This is the cake I cut my teeth on earlier this week! I used cc icing for the first time, made my first loopy gumpaste bow, and played around with brush embroidery. I had to dowel and stack too, yikes! I learned so much on this one, mostly what NOT to do! I got my inspiration from a cake done by Thahn Thahn. Thanks for looking!

Aside from the crooked lettering, I guess this turned out ok. I was experimenting with the Whimsical Bakehouse House Buttercream, since it doesn't crust. Was trying to get it really smooth. Everyone at work was really impressed with it.

This was my 2008 Ultimate TD cake. Our theme was Black and White, and this was my interpretation! I used my cream cheese fondant, painted half black, then used black and white buttercream to do freehand lace work and brush embroidery. My first try at both! The topper is white chocolate and black buttercream. Thanks to those who voted for me!

MMF and royal icing complete the look of the cake. I initially had a difficult time getting the cakes to stand up correctly but with better supports it worked out in the end. TFL.
