My neice's 2nd birthday and she loves her "Henry" silkie blankie, as well as Backyardigans. Her mom decided on both for the cake. I had planned to make the decorations from fondant but mom likes the look and taste of buttercream much better. The colors came out bolder than I had intended but that was great. BTW, Tahitian vanilla is much better tasting.

This is the 2nd cake I have decorated with fondant. I cut strips using a patterned roller and placed them on the cake as flowers. All the decorations are fondant. I threw this cake together one night to get some practice in ( I've taken the first class of the Wilton fondant course so far)

These were for my sister's 25th birthday party. I used different tips to make them look different, the colors match the decor. They were red velvet with cream cheese icing.

Bright colors were painted on fondant with petal dust mixed with lemon extract. Accent designs were piped on with royal icing and painted with gold petal dust. Fondant rolled ribbon roses, graduated balls and dots accented the cake. The bow and curly-Qs were made from gumpaste.

I donated the offer of a cake to my kids school promise auction and this is the result. The recipient was apparently a very good cake decorator so this was a scary one! She is sadly losing her eyesight now and has given up decorating so I wanted to make something very colourful for her. Madeira cake with BC and fondant.

My friend wanted a tinkerbell themed cake and party so I made a 1/2 sheet cake with tinkerbell on it (already have a pic of one up from earlier) and this is the design that I came up with to match the tinkerbell cake. I thought it was cute....Thanks For Looking.....

Hi sugar friends!
I loved how this cake turned out, probably because I love blue hydrangea! The teeny tiny choc. pearls accented the monogram so well. This has my choc. fondant on it. Questions? Please e-mail: cakebabe1@aol.com

This is my first fondant on buttercream cake. I am new to cake decorating and had my very first cake vision. I went with my vision and here is the result. All decorations are made of fondant. This cake is actually my own birthday cake! Hope you like it!

This is the leaning tower of cake! It's only my second wonky cake, and my first one with fondant. It looks to be almost falling, because it is! I snapped pictures quickly, because I'm sure it's going to fall before making it to the party. There are stress cracks in the fondant, which the pix doesn't show. Chocolate sour cream cake with buttercream filling and vanilla MMF.

Birthday cake for a co-worker's daughter and niece (thus the reason for 2 Spongebobs). Chocolate cake with raspberry filling, buttercream icing, crushed Nilla wafers for sand and candy melts for seashells, dusted in luster dust. She gave me the toys to put on the cake, but I prefere not to put non edible items on the cake, therefore, they are on the sides- she is very happy with it.

I made this as a present for a friend's 40th birthday. It was a banana cake w/ a Kahlua soak, filled with chocolate ganache, IMBC and coconut creme'. The color scheme is "young", but I wanted her to remember the child that still lives on!

I made this for my friend's birthday, who is a florist. It was my first attempt at making a cupcake bouquet. My poor bee didn't have wings at this point; they were added later. Although I need practice, I had a lot of fun doing it, and I can't wait to do another one!

My four-year old requested a Wiggles cake and we (him and I) decided the spiral would work. He wrote his name on a piece of paper for me and I copied how he did it onto his cake, that made him really excited.
I had a hard time with make purple and when I thinned it to pour into the spiral it ended up with white flecks in it. Oh, well, he likes it.
