This cake is covered in fondant. I cover the cake board in fondant too so that the whole thing coordinates.

This was a pirate ship I made for my son's birthday. It was my first carved cake and it kept falling apart! UGH! So it actually looks more like a barge. lol. The backyardigans are just figurines I added at the last minute.

cake for a little boy who loves Webkinz..this is my interpretation ...he has a panda named bamboo..
I modeled the panda from fondant/gumtex and piped the fur on with tip #1..tried the grass tip but it was too big for the panda..this is an 8" cake..choc scratch cake with choc SMBC icing..bamboo is modeled with same but over bubble tea straws..nice and light ..leaves just cute by hand and veined..
Thanks for looking

I got the inspiration for this cake from mamaof4's cake. Used the same concept of brown sugar for the sand, BC icing, and instead of piping gel tinted I used wilton's "new" sparkle gel (got it at michael's). It was a hit for my son's 4th Brithday!!!

This was done for a little boy who turning 3likes army men, but isn't allowed to play with army men with guns. Do you know how hard it is to find army men without guns? So I thought this would give him what he likes. without the violence.

I have been enjoying this site and am inspired by everyone's talent here. I've been making cakes for years, but never did a fondant cake. I thought I'd experiment with my son's birthday cake. This was just for our family and I had fun making it. My son helped me cut out the circles and make the giant pearls. It's chocolate with MMF. 6" and 8".

My first! so easy! about 45 cupcakes, covered with blue buttercream, put in the fridge to let BC harden, then globbed on spoonfuls of blue piping gel, and smoothed over carefully. Used crushed graham cracker for the island, and black piping gel for lettering. that was the tricky part, but if you mess up you can just take it off the graham sand. real easy.

This was a last minute, middle of the night cake. Didn't get the cookies
completely covered for the posts, but the birthday boy loved it. Table is a graham cracker covered with fondant. Posts are cereal straws covered in chocolate. Couldn't find licorice rope, so used red yarn instead, it actually holds its shape much better than licorice.

My son was obsessed with tractors when he turned 2. If there were more people attending, I'd have made a 1/2 sheet but a 9x13 was more than enough - just had to squish the decorations a bit!

This was for my son's 1st birthday cake. I was a little rushed when I was putting it together that morning, so it's not as smooth and even as I would have liked. But I really liked how all the fondant decorations turned out.
