It's the first time that I'd played with gumpaste and I sure love it! Now I understand why it's preferable to use gumpaste in flower making... you can practically roll it paper thin! I used the wireless method for the daffodil. Not very happy with the stamens but those were the only ones available at the moment. Thanks for looking!

Buttercream with fondant acents and bow. Luster dust and sparkels too (on the bow and daisies), you cannot see them in the photo. Sorry about the finger prints on the left side of 10"-fixed those before taking the cake to the party! I need so much more practice with the smoothing. Thank you CC "cakers" for the cake design!

First attempt at doing a present cake. 8" square, five layers. I didn't let it settle long enough before I covered it with the fondant so it sagged a little. Oh well, live and learn. It was a last minute request for my sisters last minute Bday surprise party. I had another cake due on the same day (pregnant shower cake). It was my first time having 2 cakes due the same day. Everyone loved it, and that's all I wanted!

I baked this for a friend's birthday. It's a Mexican chocolate cake with dark chocolate buttercream icing and fondant cutouts and bow. I used a half butter/half Crisco recipe for the icing and wasn't crazy about the consistency, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Birthday cake for my sister-in-law. Decorated with Satin Ice Fondant. Bow and giftbox top are gumpaste decorated with luster dust. This was my first square cake and I was pretty happy with how it came out for a first try. I had a little trouble smoothing out the bottom corners.

Fondant present cake (I used MMF). I didn't like Wilton brand because it tasted like a chemical. I really had fun with this. I did have a hard time keeping my MMF soft, but finally got through this cake.

I made this for a friend of mine for her wedding. Vanilla cake with buttercream icing. I will have to say I was very pleased with this cake. Only my 2nd wedding cake, but my first big 3-tier cake I was so nervous about stacking the cakes. The layers are 16",12", and 8". I made the bow and daisies out of fondant. Thanks for looking and comments are always welcome.

This was made for a young lady turning 21, with very expensive taste!
A 12 inch caramel mud cake with an 8 inch dark chocolate mud cake on top, both covered in FondX. The bow and ribbons are made with gumpaste and dusted with super pearl lustre. The logo was drawn freehand with a non toxic black marker pen.

This is my first fondant cake and I was really nervous! It is for mf best friend's daughter, who is having her 12th birthday. She really wanted a 2 tier cake. The bow was harder than I thought, but overall, I am happy with it!

First try using fondant and making a bow. I used MMF, which I found to be much tastier than the prepackaged Wilton fondant. Next time, the fondant needs to be thinner, I need to make more loops for the bow, and I need to be sure to let everything sit for at least 24 hours.

This is a baby shower cake for a baby boy. I used the bow technique on this website--first time-- pleased with it. (Needed to use gumpaste with the fondant bows since the bows were cracking :( ) I need more practice on the figures --- anyone have any techniques how to make them faster? :) The mother to be was happy with the cake. That's all that matters..right?
