I did this for my sister's 16th birthday. She likes dark colors and wanted a cake with them, so this what I came up with. Cake is a double layer 8" butter rum cake with chocolate buttercream filling and chocolate marshmellow fondant icing. Swags are 50% fondant and 50% gumpaste painted with the moon silver lusterdust.

This was by far the most bizzarre cake request I've ever recieved. My best friends boyfriends 21st birthday cake and this is what he wanted. Ying yang cake, half chocolate with white frosting and half yellow with chocolate frosting. Instead of dots he wanted one to be a dracula and the other to be a brown bear wearing a baseball hat. My best friend insisted that i just do dots. oh and No filling. A 2 layer cake no filling. i painted luster dist on the white MMF

Chocolate sludge cake covered in fondant. Design from Lindy Smith party animal cake book. I am so pleased with this it doesn't photo too well, but I loved making it and am very proud of the result.

This was a display cake done for my sisters wedding (my sister does not like cake). My sisters MIL insisted on some sort of cake so she bought the cupcakes from the caterer. (I was the matron of honor so I opted out of doing the cupcakes.)

This cake was for 100 people. A black & white party for a 40th birthday. It's not perfect but this was the first time I worked with fondant in such large scale.

This is my entry in the Oklahoma Sugar Art Show 2006. It's title was "Ship of Dreams". The dome on top is a recreation of the dome in the Grand Staircase of the Titanic. I earned a Silver Division award based on points earned. Thanks for looking!

Colors and design was done to match the party invitations, kind of art deco looking. 12" square, 9" and 6" round cakes, iced in buttercream w/ fondant decorations. First time doing the balls on top the cake w/ the wires, must be a trick for getting these guys to stay in place!

This cake was designed after a cake by Rebecca Sutterby (though hers is absolute perfection!) it was my first attempt at "crooked" cake, though you can't tell much by the picture. Slightly challenging, if anyone has any tricks on how to do these, I'd love to know! Bottom was 2-9" and 1 8" inch, top was 2 6"'s and 1-5". All decorated w/ fondant.

This is a 2 layer, 6" DH Classic Yellow with extender added. All buttercream with an edible image for the cards. AWESOME tasting cake! Unbelievable! The sides did bulge a little due to overfilling, but other than that it was a pretty easy cake. It's for my mom's husband's birthday that happens to be on Thanksgiving this year, so we didn't want a big cake.

Pink buttercream cake with black buttercream swirls, black fondant leaves, and ribbon border. All three cakes were carrot with cream cheese frosting. This was my first wedding cake I did for a friends wedding for free ( i wanted the practice and didn't want her to worry if it didn't turn out quite right) Picture was taken at a weird angle, sorry.

Cake is Italian Cream with cream cheese filling. I frosted it in buttercream then used a stencil to "emboss" snowflakes on both tiers. This would have worked better with fondant but person ordering it didn't want fondant so this is what I got. Worked better than I expected. The black ribbon and bows are made of gumpaste. I then sprinkled the whole cake with crushed edible glitter for that sparkle.

This was for my cousin's sweet 16. She wanted pink & black and for it to be 'funky'. 3 tiers of yellow cake. I made the dark chocolate MMF using Hersey's Special Dark Cocoa that someone posted in the forums (sorry I don't remember who it was). It tastes like tootsie rolls and is already black - no coloring added. Everything you see that's pink is buttercream and everything black is the chocolate MMF. I used silver dragees as accents.

This is a cake I just finished for tomorrow. The boutique for which this was made is having it's grand opening tomorrow. I was honored when asked to do this, though the logo was quite nerve racking transfering from the wax paper to the cake... The "M" and the sillhouette are connected. The store's colors are obviously pink/black - their tissue paper is polka dots (hense the sides!) All fondant w/ royal logo & letters. Mable cake/vanilla IMBC under it. Thanks for looking!

The fan is gumpaste with gold stencil accents. The red had to be one very large piece of gumpaste cut to the shape (a strip would have creased) and then placed on the blades. I had one shot to get it right since I had to put water on the blades for glue. If I had tried to glue it after it was placed, the red would have been distorted. I was a bit stressed, especially since this is the smaller of the two that I made.

This is a quick snapshot of my Halloween cake. It would have been a better picture if I would have taken it once I placed it on the glass cake tray. This cake was not perfect but all of my lil' ghost and goblins loved it at the Halloween Party.
