I made 2 cakes; one for all the guest to eat and one for the Birthday Boy to have to him self and smash his face and hands into. It was a sports themed party. I didn't get to take a picture of it before the B-day Boy got to it so that's why it looks partly eaten. It's chocolate cake with whipped vanila icing and piped red sparkling icing, and baseball ribbon, which is not edible, around the base.

I am brand new to cake decorating... and my sister-in-law trusted me to make the cake for my 5-year old nephew's birthday. He chose a Ben-10 theme, so we went with toppers because I don't really know what i'm doing yet.

My first cake for people outside my family! Sylvia Weinstock's Classic Yellow Cake with Indy's BC. The figures are 50/50 gumpaste and fondant, the letters are fondant! Everyone loved it, I was SO nervous about it since it's my first 'for real' cake that anyone is going to see/taste outside of my family.

frog cake made from wilton 3D bear pan. I only had the two pieces of this pan that I bought that day from someone who lived 1/2 hour away and when I get there to pick it up, most of the pieces are missing. The lady gave it to me for nothing since I drove all that way for nothing. Anyway, my DH put copper wire around it and I 'baked' a seal around the edge using a flour and water mix. It was the most hillbilly pan you ever saw when it was put together and while it was baking I could see the batter pouring out of it and baking around it! I wanted to cry because the cake was due that day and I didn't know a better way to make a frog. Half the frog came out and I used that anyway and I think it looked ok. This was a first birthday cake for a little boy and the mom loved it when she saw it. It is all fondant and IMBC under fondant. THe cattails are spaghetti strings with fondant tails . I would have added more colour now looking at it but it was a great deal of work. TFL and sorry for the long story!

This was for my youngest first birthday. It was my first experience with fondant. The main struggle was trying to get rid of the seams between where I attached the fins to the body- any suggestions?

I made this for my sons' birthdays - they are turning 3 and 1. The figures on top represent them fishing for their number. (The 3 is upside down because the 3 year old insisted it be that way. I decided it was his cake...) The top tier was baked in a ramekin that had been buttered and sugared to give it a "sand" look. It's a chocolate cake and a yogurt sponge cake iced in SMBC and accents are MMF. Thanks for looking!
