This was so much fun to make! It had a matching smash cake too. This was covered in MMF, all decorations MMF. The picture of Foy was clipped off the invitation. The theme and colors matched the invite. The rocket and stars were cookies with poured icing. I freehand cut the rocket out of dough to match the rocket on the invite.

Here is the wrestling cake I made my nephew for his 5th birthday. He loves wrestling and he is on the Jr.Wildcats team. I made him pinning his opponent...(too bad I didn't focus on the back side of him because that was the side that ended facing up....oops). The wrestlers are made out of MMF and the icing is buttercream.

This was fun! The customer lives in Virginia but she was coming in to celebrate her son's 1st birthday with family here in TX so she contacted me & sent along a photo of something similar. I created it as she wished out of 8, 10 & 12" rounds iced in buttercream, but created the characters out of fondant with royal icing instead of flat faces out of fondant as the picture showed. I also created a smash cake for the birthday boy =) Her & her husband loved it! TFL!

I did monthly birthday cakes for an office. They didn't have any in April so they asked me to come up w/something for Earth Day:) A 10x2" round base cake iced b'cream & airbrushed topped w/a 6" round topped w/a 1/2 ball. Once of my 1st attempts using fondant so there are plenty of pleats which became all the earth's mountains gone south:) Space ship, alien & planets are hand molded. Stars cut w/cookie cutter; mounted on floral wire. Could make a great cake for a boy's birthday.

This is my second attempt at this, it's a chocolate WASC cake with BC and Fondant. This is for a little boy who was at my son's birthday and asked for a fat cake like his, lol. He helped me roll out the fondant and cut out the pieces for me. He is soo cute! He has some Star Wars action figures to place on top at the party. I got the inspiration from MaxTRexmom, Thanks so much!!

1/4 sheet frosted in BC, top covered in fondant tiles. Car of RKT covered in fondant. This is my first attempt at carving anything...the proportions were a little off, but maybe I'll get better.

I used a 12" round cake pan and carved the face and used the party plate to decorate the turtle to match. This was before I took any classes and knew how nice the buttercream is to work with, you can tell by the stars.

I made this cake for my son's 1st birthday. Thanks to jkalman who gave me great advice on her SMBC, I'm sold! One big batch of the icing was more than enough for this whole entire cake! Leahs for her great SPS tutorial and persuasion for everyone to convert, I'm never going to go another way...I felt 100% confident in the structure and it was a very heavy cake. Thanks to everyone who posts on CC because I couldn't have done it without the support everyone gives each other on this site and the great product and recipe advice! Cheers

This was a marble cake covered with vanilla buttercream. The bottom layer was filled with buttercream and the top layer had a raspberry filling. Luke was an action figure but R2D2 was gumpaste and hand painted. The "star wars", "5", stars and planets were fondant. The little boy is a new fan of fondant his mother says!

So my two year old nephew is obsessed with Totoro. My brother-in-law enlisted my help with making a Totoro cake, and I had just began playing with fondant and watching Ace of Cakes... and I decided this was the perfect shape and character to make my first 3D cake. I mean, it's basically a huge fat egg sitting upright. It took me five hours to make, including baking and cooling time (I was hard at work making the MMF the whole time). I used 7 layers of cake I think, and had a dowel for support up the middle. My parents had to take it to his birthday party at their house (4 hours away in Atlanta) - we we built a special cake board with handles for it to stay on. I had some leftover fondant so I made the mini totoro (blue) that is on the right. My brother in law used sprinkles and buttercream icing to fill in the details on the ground where I left off. It was definitely the hardest I've ever worked on a cake! Carving was not my strong point, but it was fun and rewarding. It turned out much better than I thought it would for a first time 3D and third time fondant.

CSM: I did this one for this weekend's McKinney cake show. It took 1st place and decorator's choice! :) I am so very happy- I was under such a time crunch these past two weeks and was afraid that I wouldn't even finish it for the show. All pound cake- ducks and tug boat are rice crispy treats covered in fondant and the water spout is floral wire. The tail is fondant/gumpaste mix. Thanks for looking!

This was for my little cousin's birthday. He loves soccer, it was a last minute cake (2 days notice). The field is a decorated with the wilton soccer set and I made a little parking lot in the back of the cake. It's all buttercream and its a rainbowlicious cake (from macsmom) with vanilla filling. super delicious.

This cake was made for my son's 4th birthday. He wanted a black and gray Puff the Magic Dragon cake with himself as Jackie Paper. The dragon is inspired by the illustrations of Eric Puyabaret. The cake is three latyers of sculpted chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream. The neck and tail are rice crispy treats covered in fondant like the cake and the ears adn wings are gumpaste.

I used fondarific - it's awesome - very smooth...not like Satin Ice.
The cake is similar to a pound cake - it's a Puerto Rican Wet Cake...syrup made brandy...I tried to do every single detail on this bug - lol
