This cake was done to duplicate a Sesame Street birthday party themed dinner plate. Top of cake was transferred from a template with piping gel. Side decorations going around entire cake were freehanded. I used an old Wilton small Big Bird character pan for individual cake. It took a REALLY LONG time to decorate. Longer than some wedding cakes.

This is my first attempt at decorating. I had a little trouble with Bert's hair. It fell off and its going to have to go as is. I guess my icing should have been stiffer. I only used buttercream icing.

I made this cake for my Gradma Bird's 88th birthday and literally constructed the Bird family tree. In addition to having the last name "Bird," she's an avid bird watcher, so I included a bird feeder, bird bath and birds feeding along the ground. The cake is covered in MMF. The tree was molded from cake crumbs mixed with buttercream then iced over in royal icing. Birds and nests are MMF. Bird bath is royal icing (with a royal icing covered pretzel stick base) filled with colored piping gel for water.

This mini cake was made out of a bowl. It is about 3" high and 4" wide. The bird was color-flow and the flowers were royal icing left overs from Wiltons Class.

I made this for my DH 45th b-day. Everything is edible except the birds and the wires that attach them and the curling ribbon. I was going to use chocolate molds in the shape of doves, and then press fondant in them, but my cake store ran out. The cards are fondant painted with straight gel color. The magic wand is fondant too.

I made these Sesame Street Cupcakes for my nephew's 1st birthday. Cupcakes were yellow cake with flavored buttercream (Elmo was cherry, Cookie Monster was blue raspberry and Big Bird was pineapple). My nephew looked like a smurf all day (from the blue icing)..lol

I made this cake for my grandfather who turned 95 on August 1. He is in an assisted living center now, but he still loves to feed the birds outside his window. The tree and the bird are both FBCT's. It looks like it was raining on the cake, but it was incredibly humid the day I made this.

My daughter asked for a nest cake for her 6th "Bird-Day" party. She was partial to chickens because of her pet Mrs. Cluckers. The eggs were a nightmare for my husband and I because we used white "melts" that I thought were white chocolate to coat the Cadbury creme eggs, and the melts kept going lumpy. I wanted to add icing ribbons, bits of string, and flowers to look like a bird had collected them for the nest, but I ran out of time due to the above problem.

My OH's friend has just moved house and is having a housewarming party tomorrow night - so I made this as a housewarming gift. Based on an old Wilton yearbook design, vanilla cake baked in the 3D house pan on top of a 9in devils food cake filled with chocolate fudge buttercream. Whole thing covered in vanilla buttercream and decorated with royal icing drop flowers and roses (I'm still useless at piped roses!). Bluebirds are based on a Debbie Brown design in modelling fondant & have disco glittered wings!

I did this cake for my sister because she didn't want to be made fun of on her 50th birthday. I thought Tweety was very cheerful!

This cake was inspired by a Debbie Brown book. I chose to alter it a bit as I needed to make a much bigger cake than what was called for and I had special critter requests. The cake consists of six 6" torted cakes with Raspberry filling and Butter Cream, covered in MMF. All decorations are MMF too!

Grammy likes owls, so, this is what we did. She also says "happy to you" for "happy birthday", hence the smily face, #2, and letter U. Lemon cake with 4 layers, raspberry btwn 1 & 3, and cream cheese frosting btwn the middle. BC frosting with gumpaste owl. (gumpaste was a little old, so cracked a bit). I also did all little gumpaste flowers around the bottom. Thanks for looking!

This cake was made for my cousin. She moved out of state a couple of years ago and finally got so home sick that she moved back the past week. She really liked the Tweety Cake.

This cake has hundreds of tiny flowers. Each one was individually cut, each petal was thinned with a small ball tool. Probably took me 40 hours to do this cake. There is a birds nest on top with 4 little eggs in it.

White cake iced in BC, second cake I ever made. Baked in a Wilton Character Pan. My icing was too soft, so my stars weren't defined enough.

Made it for a friend at work. I was not too happy with the colors, but it was my first. I hope i do better with my next project. The cake is strawberry, and i kinda sorta forgot to do the filling. I also forgot to ice the cake before i added th fondant so i had to take the fondat off and do it over. It was a chore, but it still turned out ok.

This was accomplished ONLY with the help of Phoov. The bride found Phoov's cake here on CC and showed it to me, asking if I would make her wedding cake to look just like that. Well, I emailed Phoov and asked if she mind that I copy it, and if she was willing to share instructions. Well, she done more than that. Phoov, was such an encourager, she is the GREATEST. I believe this was her design originally, isn't it the neatest? THANK YOU PHOOV!!!!! {{{{HUGS}}}} - Ellie

I filled the nest with rose petals, then broke up a GP leaf and sprinkled it in. The eggs are made of GP.

I have a slot machine cake pan that seems to be just the right shape to convert into other designs. This is an owl cake that I made my making an outline of the slot machine cake pan and then making an owl design to fit it. I transferred the outlines to the cake with piping gel. It's frosted with buttercream using stars and a leaf tip for the feathers on the wings and chest.

The Shaker Nature Center is having a 40th "B'earthday" party and they asked for donated centerpiece cakes. Their logo is the blue heron. They're going to judge the cakes, too. The nest is made from chocolate covered pretzels and shredded wheat. The eggs, heron chick, rocks, cattails, and sign are fondant. The swamp grass is plastic.

9" and 6" amaretto cake, iced to match baby's decor. Pink and white dots matched the baby shower invites, and the bottom was to match the Pottery Barn (Little Birdie) nursery. Iced in buttercream w/ fondant details and "L".

For a wedding yesterday. These were passed around by the servers with coffee late in the evening.

I was asked to do penguins, though I don't really know why! I did add the splash of yellow at the neck to add some colour to them...so I guess they are more like Emperor Penguins really!
