It's my friend's 30th birthday and her husband has arranged a few surprises for her. Firstly, he's taking her out for dinner tonight (she was most put out that he wasn't taking her out last night, when it was actually Valentine's day!) and he's arranged for a group of her friends to be there! Secondly, he's ordered this cake. Thirdly, he's taking her to New York for a long weekend - somewhere she's always wanted to go! He's arranged something for her whilst they're out there, but he's not saying what! LOL! He wanted the cake to announce the trip! The Statue of Liberty, the apple and the yellow cab are all made from pastillage, using molds.

This truck completely and totally did me in. I worked on elements from Wednesday to Saturday night. I was up one night till 3am. Of all the cakes I have done, this one was by far the most time consuming. My husband helped by building a frame so it would look like a "real" truck. The tires are rice krispy treats. The dirt mound is cake covered with butterscotch icing and cocoa powder. The whole top of the cake is edible except the skewers that look black bracing on the truck bed (roll cage). This was made for my son's 6th Birthday. And of course... he liked the hot wheels version better. I've been thanked about 20 times for the little toy car. Oh well....

This was fun! The customer lives in Virginia but she was coming in to celebrate her son's 1st birthday with family here in TX so she contacted me & sent along a photo of something similar. I created it as she wished out of 8, 10 & 12" rounds iced in buttercream, but created the characters out of fondant with royal icing instead of flat faces out of fondant as the picture showed. I also created a smash cake for the birthday boy =) Her & her husband loved it! TFL!

My granddaughter's mom was putting together a circus theme birthday. I made some changes for size, changed a border and added some different decorations, but it's basically still the Wilton Circus cake. It's the first time I tried something like this. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out and so was the birthday girl.

Gorgeous cake, this bride knew what she was doing! The pleats matched her dress. The flowers were gum paste and my first attempts. They turned out well, thank goodness I made extras though! Thanks!

This was not a big budget cake. Lemon cake with basic white frosting. I hated this cake because of the million colors I had to make and I really hated doing the boarder. After I was done I wasn't even sure if I liked it or not. But thats why I have you ladies and gentlemen! So what do you think?

Chocolate cake, with butter cream icing. The figures are hand piped from royal icing and placed in a 3D setting to look like a tug-of-war game in taking place. I think it is Bear in the big blue house or something like that.
