I made these for my nephew's 2nd birthday because he loves Elmo! Thanks Jen411 for your tips and the amazing inspiration! Next time I will practice first before making them to get a better feel for how big the mouth should be in comparison to the whole face! All buttercream, except eyes which are marshmallows sliced, and mini choc. chip cookies in Cookie Monster's mouth! Used a Wilton Cupcake 'n more Dessert Stand to display.

This was fun! The customer lives in Virginia but she was coming in to celebrate her son's 1st birthday with family here in TX so she contacted me & sent along a photo of something similar. I created it as she wished out of 8, 10 & 12" rounds iced in buttercream, but created the characters out of fondant with royal icing instead of flat faces out of fondant as the picture showed. I also created a smash cake for the birthday boy =) Her & her husband loved it! TFL!

This was not a big budget cake. Lemon cake with basic white frosting. I hated this cake because of the million colors I had to make and I really hated doing the boarder. After I was done I wasn't even sure if I liked it or not. But thats why I have you ladies and gentlemen! So what do you think?

First off: thank you SOOO much to gossimerwings for sharing her instructions & techniques - thank you, thank you, thank you. GP. Trying to get the body proportions right was the hardest part. Big bird was a pain. I do not care for how his beak came out. They are cute though!!

10" on a 12". BC with fondant accent pieces. After I took the picture (at 2:30am!!) I remembered to finish off the seam where the white gp on top (the piece that looks like it's ripped back) meets the cake -oh well. Details on the GP toppers in another uplaod

This is my first birthday cake to do. It was so easy, but I worked a long time on it. I think Big Bird looks funny though. :)

My nephew's 1st birthday was Sesame Street themed. I saw all of the cute cupcakes on CC and knew I had to make them. There are so many great ones here on CC that inspired me. These are chocolate and vanilla swirled cupcakes with cream filling and decorated with buttercream, fondant, and assorted candy. The kids really loved them and getting to chose their favorite character.

All frosted then dipped into same color sprinkles. Eyes are mini chocolate chips upside down. I used a candy corn for Bird's beak! Oscar wanted to be in the photo too - he has a raisin cut in half for a uni-brow! For Cookie I used a vanilla wafer before serving as it gets soggy overnight!

I made these figures to put around a two tier square cake that was decorated like the building of sesame street. I didn't do the cake this time, but i did the all the figures. All together I made 7 characters: Big Bird, Elmo, Bert, Ernie, Grover, Cookie Monster, and Oscar the Grouch. It was really time consuming but i enjoyed every minute of it.

I have done a similar cake, just this one is made to be a little more girlier. Its made to be more of a princess cake then anything else. The mother wanted to have a princess party, but the father wanted something less flashy. In all this is what we came up with.
