Thanks to all my CC friends for the inspiration & ideas for this cake...I learn so much from looking at what everyone has created!

I made these for a customer who's 9yr old neice is having a Luau themed birthday party. Funfetti cake with buttercream icing....MMF straps & plaque, silk flowers & brown sugar sand (I really wanted to add shells, but she didn't think it needed it).

This cake was a joint effort between myself and my just-turned 7 yr. old daughter. We used her Polly Pockets for the hula girls, flip flop candles, fruit roll-up beach towel and palm tree leaves, candy bananas and fish, and chocolate seashells and letters (which we made with molds). The "sand" on the island is a mixture of brown sugar and graham cracker crumbs.

My Son-in-law and and Daughter love going to the coast. For his birthday instead of a birthday cake I made him 48 special cookies with images of a camper like theirs and images from Port Aransas. He loved them! What did I ever do before my frosting sheets and printer?????

This is a cake I made for a 2 year old's birthday party. She wanted an Ah-wah-all cake. Use MMF for all the figures, and took the mermaid and octopus designs from Debbie Brown's book... Everyone especially enjoyed the pieces with the graham cracker sand!!

The cake is decorated to look like a beach. There is a retaining wall, dock, trees, umbrella and jello for the water. The little bears are having fun sunbathing and swimming.

Brown sugar sand...the lighthouse is all cake...wrapped in Fruit by the Foot LOL...I made the top from graham crackers and melted chocolate. He loved it! The shells are molded chocolates and I wrote the message out in chocolate and froze to set so that it would hold up on top of the "sand".

I couldn't come up with anything really cool for my husband's birthday last year (he loves comic books) so I did a beach on cream cheese icing...it's all airbrushed (I took it to work), with a blue stripe in my cream cheese bag for the trim. Those are are initials in the sand. :D

Everything is made from fondant. The seashells are modeled with push-molds and some are dusted with luster dust. The sand is ground bisquite. Lighthouse base is a sugar-mold, covered with fondant. Pearls are dusted with pearl luster dust and the fishes with light green luster dust.

This is a cake that I did for my daughter's 6th birthday. The theme was a Hawaiian Luau. I had 3 others Hula Dancers on the side, but I did not get a great picture of them.

Whipped icing (Bettercreme) with fondant ribbon, hand molded chocolate shells dry dusted with lustre dust. The larger shells & the chair are made from MMF. I ended up carving out the letters and filling with icing because it wouldn't hold the shape. Used crushed vanilla oreos for the sand.

These seem to be pretty popular! 1/2 choc, 1/2 yellow cake w/BC. Little rocks are choc candies I found and flowers are silk. The couples e-vite had orchids and I had some left from the last beach cake I did.
